: waggy axles - vacuum shafts fit?

H8, anyone else who has a waggy front axle:

I have an 87 front 44 in my YJ, I'm looking for spare axle shafts, I found a really cheap 82 front end, but it's vacuum disconnect. Anyone know if the shafts will work? I suspect that the long inner and stubs will work, but short side inner will not. This is because I think it's the same width overall(?), but the disconnect is on the short side right against and inside the housing, more or less. I'm guessin this means the short inner shaft will be even shorter than a non vacuum shaft.

Anyone know for sure?

The short inner shaft is HUGE on a vacuum disconnect. It makes the other shafts look pathetic. I think the other 3 shafts will work for spares.

If its got the vacume disconnect you will be able to use the long side but not the short side. The short side tueb is shorter and has a different spline that goes into the sliding disconectit is also fatter to fit the seal at the outer end of the funky diff housing.
I think that the vacume actuated axle assembly will accept, the shafts from the other years, as long as the disconect unit is out of the way(removed). But then there would not be a good inner seal at the short side housing.

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought. It's cheap enough, maybe I'll but it anyway, see if I can get the long side, stubs, and spindles off of it.
