: Feinstein wants more wilderness area

Several staffers from California's Senator Dianne Feinstein's office collaborated with Paul Spitler the Executive Director of the California Wilderness Coalition and Eldon Hughes of the Sierra Club.

These folks personally filled a couple of BLM vehicles, driven by BLM staff to visit, and begin the process of designating the listed WSA's to become Wilderness. Mr. Spitler mentioned at the National Trails Symposium held in Redding, Calif (Sept. 2000) , that 14,000,000 acres of Wilderness in California is not enough. He further stated that an additional 7,000,000 acres is needed.

1) D.V. (Death Valley) 17 commonly called the "Bowling Alley"-- 17,280 acres.
2) Avawatz Mts.-------61,320 acres
3) South Avawatz Mts. ---23,259 acres
4) Soda Mts.-----80,430 acres
5) Kingston Range --------- 39,750
6) Cady Mts.--------- 84,000 acres (this WSA is not related to thje Ft. Irwin expansion)

Total acres---306,430

Lets these folks know that your totally opposed to these areas becoming Wilderness.
