man i hate to say it but you need to make a road trip. i can get a 18 ft. car hauler made for about 1200 with brakes, if you want a complete metal deck add 200 more. and i am pretty sure i can get it a little cheaper in oklahoma. i got lucky and picked up a 24 ft. enclosed wells cargo that is 8 ft. tall insideand a full width for 800 bucks. it had been laid on its side and had a diamond shape in the rear doors. it took us about 8 hrs. to straighten it out but its kick ass. when we take off for the day wheeling we just throw everthing in the trailer and lock it up. plus when you hit the road you just have to throw all your stuff in the trailer with out worrying if its going to fly out. we hauled my 88 fj62 backed in it with my buddies samurai's front tires on the hood of the land cruiser. it was the only way to fit 27+ ft. of rigs in 24 ft. we towed them 1900 miles this summer. check around, i bought mine from a auto wholesaler that got it on a insurance deal. its not the best to look at, but i have used the shit out of it. but be forwarned every one will want to borrow it for moving. i am getting ready to build a 28 ft. enclosed so i can carry two rigs and gear easy. and mine has been camped in many times. mike

I had Aztex in Paris California build me one and I picked it up from them. You will be a couple hundred less than a used trailer in the bay area if you do that and pay with cash money. Mine is 80' between the wheeelwells and 16' long.

Jimmy -

Its not too hard to make the fenders drivable. A little rectangular tubing and some support struts with a bit of diamond plate works great.

Or do what I saw at a local run: The guy made his fenders removable (They were on pins). Pull the pics, drive over the tires, cinch the rig down and put the fenders back on - you're stylin'

HTH,

Jim

How much are you willing to spend on a trailer? And what are you planning on towing it with? Not that I have one........just curious.

2250 is alot for that trailer. And I think he has his numbers a little off. He will add brakes to the other axle for $50, but he wants $150 for ramps???? I'd walk and save the bucks for a gooseneck. Your truck wouldn't have any problem pulling it.

I just picked up the same trailer from Az-Tex. It was $1,300 with brakes, and spare tire. It's a nice trailer but it's a bit too low to the ground and it hit the ground every time I drive over a dip in the road. I just finished doing a spring over axle conversion on it. I got some 2X3 3/16" tubing and cut out some spring perches. I welded the perches on top of the axle, flipped the spring pins over and bolted the axle under the leaf springs for a 3" lift. Gona give it a try this weekend. Here is a picture before the lift....

if its 80 between the wheels does that mean its 100 outside of it? if so it might work and i would just have to smash teh fenders i guess. and your wheel base is about the same as mine too. electric brakes on both axels? where is place located in comparison to sac? jimMy

Me and Chris' trailers are 82"wide. They really won't work for a rig that is wider that than unfortunately because of the channeled sides. They may have other (wider trailers) though. If not, PacWest trailers make extra wide trailers. Troy's trailer is something like 102" wide with driveover fenders. He paid $2200 for it.

Just asking. But couldn't you add to the sides of the trailer where your tires would ride on it. And reinforce the fenders to be driven over. My trailer is 83.5 inches wide between the wheel wells and two weeks ago we put a 3/4 ton Dodge 4x4 long bed extra cab with 35's on the trailer. It was tight between the wheel wells( ok rubbed pretty good ) but wasn't horrible.

My friends trailer is 82"ish between the fenders, however we made so 1/4" plate steel fenders for it. We just drive one tire over them and cinch it down good with the one tire half way off. Not the best to do things but we never had any problems with it.

Hey Lance, what is the name of the place in Zamora? Or where the hell is it?

Speaking of trailers, I am ready to buy one aswell but have no place to store it. Is there anybody out there that lives in the Bay Area that is willing to let me store a trailer on their property? In exchange, I would be willing to let you use the trailer ANYTIME I'm not using it. . . and with my busy schedule, that's quite a bit. E-mail me if you're interested. sergei@fhicda.com

Jimmy are you interested in buying a used one? I have a friend who made a very nice one, the whole deck is 8' wide with re-moveable fenders. He's talked about selling it in the past... I will ask if you're interested.

Here is a pic of the trailer I had built for my rig. It cost a little more than you want to spend, but my rig weighs about 6250# trail ready. My trailer has an 18' deck, 10,000# GVWR, with brakes on both axles, flat diamond plate deck, 15" 8 lug wheels, D Range tires w/spare, 5' ramps, 3500# landing gear at the tongue, and 2 5/16" ball. I opted to have the fenders built and shipped seperately, so I can modify them to suit my needs.
