Can you see fuel dripping into the intake thru the top of the carb ? If so the needle and seat may have a piece of dirt/rust keeping keeping the needle from closing... If so tap on the fuel line/carb connection with a screwdriver handle.

Change the oil and filter asap or you will wear out the rings fast.

Could be a ruptured diaphram in the fuel pump, chevy 's will dump right into the crankcase.

I had that happen to my old 304 but the oil pan did not blow off but the valve covers did look like baloons

Since you change to a Q-Jet I'm going to guess that it was a Holley you were having trouble with. The foam floats on Holleys have a coating on them that breaks down after a while. this will cause the float to soak up gas and it will be too heavy to float. Result, needle stays open and raw gas dumps into the carb from the vent tube. Failure rates for brass floats are much lower.

it had brass floats, i'm not sure what was wrong with it, but i was pouring gas in the intake, after playin with the q-jet last night, i think i will like it more
