What have you built for your floor jack?

Extensions? Tranny adapters? What else? And I want pics........

Over the weekend I built this to increase the lift height of my floor jack:

Sorry for the blurry pic, I plan to get better pics later (it even uses old D44 parts LOL).

But the second this thing was complete we found out it was extremely handy... not only can you get the truck higher, but the channel holds axle tubes without letting them roll out. Later we used it to position a bumper, and again it holds the bumper far better than a standard jack saddle would.

I'm contemplating a small forklift contraption for the jack, two blades on either side that just touch the ground, slide it under something wide (like a complete axle) and jack away.

Yes, of course you need to be aware of the limitations of your jack, esp stability, but the stock saddles suck for a lot of things. A little creativity can make your jack a lot more versatile.

Who's got other stuff like this?

You should post a picture of it holding an axle like a D-60 or something.

I've built some extensions - some a LOT higher than the one you show (I need one about 14" long to even get the tires off the ground on my Ranger and Explorer with the 18" droop). and I am currently modifiying one of those transmission jack adaptors to work better (they are so tall that they are worthless - can't get the tranny out from under the rig).

Next job is to modify an old jack into a tranny (transfer case) jack that will actually do something worthwhile. I am going to cut off the legs on each side - stub in some 2x2 tubing set at an angle to about 36" - then modify the jacking part to 36" as well with a tranny adaptor plate of some sort on the end. It only has to lift about 300# max - and should do so with ease (seeing as how they are mostly rated to 2.5 tons) - while allowing for a LOT of lift (like about 40" or so) plus get flat to roll out from under with a part on board.

One other mod that I have seen is a cross piece that can lift on two wide points at once like the old air/oil bumper jacks - those are pretty cool as well.

I have one of those tranny jack adapter things laying around. Like you said, you cant even get the tranny out from under the truck. Worthless if you askme.

14" ext, buddy found these at work, they have a acme screw in them that drops right in where the stocker does, I can even put a nut on but never need to, I like the C channel in that 1st BLURRY pis :flipoff2: I might weld something to the top like that.

Yep, here's where the D44 parts come in. I found the splines on a D44 pinion where about the right diameter, so I cut off a little bit and welded it on to the base of my extension (didn't have any round stock this large), and then I hand-tighten the pinion nut on the underside of the saddle. Probably not necessary like you say, but it makes me feel better and only takes a second
