This computer won't let me search. My friend just bought a '01 Silverado 2500 8.1L auto 2wd. He now wants a 4wd. :shaking: Does anyone know a good place to go for a kit or know a good source? Something so new could be a pain in the a$$.
Thanx

I'd rip ya, but I could not get the search to work this afternoon either. So you can slide for now.
Trade it in!
If not an option, is he trying to make it like a stock 4x4 '01? IFS and all? If so, go to a auto recycler and buy the frame, or at least the frame from the cab forward and graft it on. Then have your head examined and see a psych Dr. to really ask yourself "WHY?".
If he's smart, not saying he is, but you should really look into doing a Straight axle conversion on it. I couldn't find the info on the 99 and up stuff, but on the same page as your thread about 3/4's of the way down in this thread.

Alot of the vendors that American listed can help you out. ORU has a straight axle kit for the HD's, so you're in luck.
Honestly this is the best play. You buddy didn't waste his green on a 4x from the factory. So all the money he saved on that option he can use to make a capable 4x vs. the IFS crap.

then the only woes are finding a divorced and shafts for it. Easier than trying to do more wiring to make a factory t case go in and talk to everything in there.
