TRADING IN THE 80 TOMMORROW. JUST WANT TO KNOW IF THE REAR THIRD WITH ELEC LOCKERS WILL FIT INTO THE REAR OF MY 87 MINI.

I have an electric locker for a mini and haven't had any luck fitting it into my cruiser so I am pretty sure that it won't work the other way around either. Don't suppose we could could work out some trade for one diff for the other?

The following retrofits are possible with some axle housing grinding to make room for the locker mechanism and some drilling and tapping of bolt holes. See some of the tech pages for specifics.

The 80 Series front elec locker (reverse cut, high pinion) will go into the 79-85 solid front axles and if you are so inclined, also into the rear axle on the early trucks.

80 Series rear elec locker can be fitted into any of the older LC housings.

TRD elec lockers (96 and newer) will not retrofit to anything else as far as I have heard. Uses a different axle and housing from LC and early trucks.
