My 90 four banger trooper has just passed 135k and i am told i need to get the valves adjusted or i will burn one, it was last serviced at 120k. My dad, the previous owner, burned a valve at about 49k(last service being at 30k) and has maintained it on schedule since. The reason i am asking is cause i haven't the money to get it done right now and i need to do a bit of driving in the next month(500-600m) and don't want my faithfull little troop to break down on me.

Thanks in advance, Matt

I would get it done if it was me. them 2.6s like to burn valves when they're not done. but the good news is it's really easy to do yourself if you feel inclined to do so.

definetly adjust em. I did it on my 2.6L and it didnt take long at all. It is a defenite problem if you let it slip though (when i got mine it had one burnt valve and 3 others close after it)

What does it mean to burn a valve?
