I want to know the weight of a few things:
front 60, carbed 350 motor, th350 tranny, and 203 tcase

And if possible - a blazer frame and a mini cab. :flipoff2:

if memory serves me correctly, I think I remember someone on the board saying that their front 60 weighed 450 lbs

But its way way overbuilt....

So 450 for a front 60 is about right.

nope, I am sure.. Tommy and I could only lift one side at a time.

We had to move it with the fork lift.. :D

The tubing alone was 20 lbs a foot.

That puts it as officially heavier than my rear 66" FF 60. With drums and hubs. By several hundred pounds.

Tom knows that " I HAVE A HISTORY OF BREAKING STUFF!"

And we built it to stay together.

The tube is 1/2 in wall DOM with 20% Carbon and cost $20.00 a foot. Weighs 20 lbs a foot. Plus you add an ARB/ GEARS/ BREAKS/ TJ mounts/ TRAC bar/ SPRINGS and suddenly the rear of my TJ weighs more than the front. :D

Here is the deal. My TJ weighs 4140 lbs. As checked on a Big rig drive on Scale that is ceritfied within 1 lb.

I will try and get just the rear of the TJ on the scale and we will know for sure. at least what the rear / front weigh.

And If i get a chance, I'll check just the rear with portable scales.

Then let you know for sure what it weighs. Because now I wonder exactly..

20 lbs a foot times 5 feet= 100 lbs
gears=(rounding high) 20 lbs
ARB= 20 lbs
axles= 40 lbs
brakes=total 20 lbs
mounts= 20 lbs

add that up and I dont get 600.....

thats only 220lbs... But that cant be right.:confused:

there is some data at http://performanceunlimited.com/documents/componentweights.html

and for trans/ transfer case
http://www.novak-adapt.com

I trust Randy at performance unlimited to have actually weighed all the stuff he said he weighed. He also has some engine weight info on that sight that is pulled from the internet. I know that some of those numbers are wrong.

Novak seems to know there stuff I bet they are right about the trans weights too it is just a question of if they include torque converters/flywheels pressure plates etc.

I hope your tube is .2% carbon not 20% or else it is about as strong as the lead in a pencil. steel has between .022 and about 1% carbon and cast iron has 2.5-4% carbon with more than .76% carbon it is no longer soluble in the metal and forms little chunks of graphite. This is Bad. Just harassing you bellyup.

THAT sounds like its going in the right ballpark. :D I figured my rear 60 was bout 300 or so with everything on it, cause I could lift it up into the wheelbarrow at the PNP myself.

two percent... Twenty percent.. Whatever it takes..

I just remember that there was a 2 in the formula somewhere.

:D So my memory is lapsing... It was over a year ago that we built the rear.. :emb: :clown: :emb3:
