Has anyone gone so far as to install a lift in their personal garage? What do you like or dislike about them, how much did you pay, and what requirements did you have to have in place before it could be installed? ie, thickness of floor, 110 vs 220...

The floor under the lift is 6"-8" in parts on 5/8" bar 24 centers.... and the slab on the left is 10", all on 3/8" bar on 16" centers.
Here is where I get most of my shop stuff. www.gesforless.com
So far Ive been really happy with the equipment.

If you can find one of these out of an old dealer or auto shop, snag it.

They are American made, and built to last.
If you come across some of the blue lifts either Korean or Chinese, cable lifts preference the Korean over the Chinese as they are slightly better made. This is what I've been told by a couple guys that are in that business of selling new lifts to auto dealers for safety compliance. There are a couple other US made lifts that are not currently being produced. If you can get one of these, not sure on all the brand names, they are still better than the foreign ones.

I went back and tried to find the brand name on Blacksheep10's lift. He bought it out of Weinberg Dodge in KC, MO last Christmas for $1000, it's american made, and has the drive over tray vs, the overhead bar. It took 3 of us about 2 hours to disassemble it at the dealership and 5 to load each of the posts. Heavy mofo! Weinberg had a couple Mohawks that they were keeping, and they had a couple of the Korean ones. It was soooo obvious the difference in strength/craftsmanship difference between the US and the foreign ones.
Blacksheeps pic of his is on this thread

i have a 9000lb asymetric 2 post built by a company called Quality lifts.
i am happy with it and it hasnt given us any problems. its 220 volt and about 13 ft tall.
after getting this installed i cant imagine how i could pull a motor or tranny withou it. Now that i have it my dad and i can pull my motor in about 1 hour
it was only like 2600 bucks installed and worth every penny. the steel structure i believe is made out of the country but all electrical and hydraulics are made in the us and has like a 5 year warranty

That is the one my next door neighboor has. He converteted it to put the bar on top.
He also has one taken apart leaning in the corner, that is still set up with the bar on the bottom.
