I am going to get another XJ and stregthen the rails by adding material to the botom and both sides of each rail, and I was thinking about puting the leaf springs inline with the rails like on a CJ to bring them inboard and get more flex and be able to make the mounts beefyer. I seem to be tareing the unibody between the hangers like it is going to split like a can. Just trying to take strees out of that area.

Has anybody tied somthing like this?

By moving the springs in it will for sure add flex but at the expense of stabiltiy. If this is what you want to do then sure this will help you out but be sure to spread the stress out . What I mean is don't have any strait lines up the frame from anything you weld to it. If possible make sure you have the gussets in a diamond shape along the side of the frame. I know this is a unibody so take this info and apply it to it.

Just remember that they are very top heavy compared to the average offroader. Doing that could help you in the rol over factor........peace
