so what did all of you guys running toyota axles do for driveshafts? i've got yotas front and rear, although i'm not as worried about the front, i might just make a square shaft. will the toyota yoke fit into the stock u joint? i've heard it might but i think my rear shaft still might not be long enough.
Thanks

:smokin: we both have the same running gear
for the rear axle on mine, i went with a one piece driveshaft approx. 47" long. my rear axle is a wide toyota rearend and i had a driveshaft shop make me one with the toyota flange, which mates to the pumpkin. and the stock isuzu slip-yoke that fits into the t-case. for the front, i am going to make a shaft out of square steel, using a reciever tow-hitch type set-up for the slip-yoke; welded to a toyota flange.
for the rear, make sure that your pinion angle is parallel with your t-case otherwise you'll get bad vibrations :flipoff2:.
if you have any more Q's, pm me.
good luck,
Colin

It will fit. The caps are the same diameter. The cross pins on stock u-joints are the same diameter too.
The inside width between the yoke ears is about 40 thou wider on the Isuzu yoke than the Toy. You can put the Toy flange onto the Isuzu u-joint no problem, but you will have to file about 20 thou off the inside of the Toy flange ears to get enough room for the c-clips to slip on. It's pretty quick and easy with just a hand file.
I've got a few pics here, about halfway down the page:

Edit:
This is with the Isuzu u-joints (c-clips on the inside). If you have 1310 joints (c-clip on the outside), it won't work. For that, you can use a Rockford conversion u-joint here (http://www.rockforddriveline.com/Shopping/K721.asp). I'm using one of these on my rear shaft to mate my Dana 300 (1310) output to my stock driveshaft.

Thanks for the info Dan, thats just what i was looking for. i remembered reading your axle swap page awhile ago but had forgotten the details. now i've just got to find some toyota flanges, but that shouldn't be a problem.
thanks

ok i finaly got a toyota flange and got around to trying to put this thing together but now i've got a problem. it apears the toyota cap is about 1/8 in taller than the isuzu cap, and narrower. so since the isuzu cap is wider, it won't fit into the toyota flange. Dan i checked out your pic's and wedpage again and my toyota flange and isuzu flange look the same as yours. my isuzu is an 89 RS, did they change driveshafts sometime???
The toyota flange does say spicer on it on one side and F22841 on the other and it is the right pattern for both my axles. is the FJ80 ujoint bigger or different than a regular toyota truck??
Thanks for any help
Eric
