during deep water crossings i always worry about my fan eating out my radiator. so i came up with some rolled expanded steel that i was going to put on the inside of the radiator to make it munch proof.
i have a stock radiator with a stock fan and 4.0. with a 3/4" engine lift. can that fan even get close enough to the radiator to hit it?
i know electric fans would be the way to go but i dont see that in the near future.

elec. fans are really the only way to go(with a switch to turn it off when ya go swimmin'). Your mech. fan really churns up the water! Go to a junk yard and pull one off a camaro or firebird (late model) or heavy duty stuff like ambulances, etc. Thats the cheap (my) way to go.

if you get an electric fan off an 85 oldsmobile cutlass with v6vdiesel it has a hi and lo speed and really pulls the air run two different temp switches to activate the two different speeds

any money you stick into modifying what you have would be better spent on  and then pissed down the terlit!
Get either a good used electric fan or save a few extra bucks and get a new one. A good fan with a shroud will do you the best justice. Good Luck!!
