Yes I did, did you? If you read the entire thread what you will find is very few guy's that have given feedback on the shocks performance. I found quite a few that were...got the shocks today, they look awesome...mounted the shocks today, they seem like there gonna be better than _________. I ran my shocks for 1 trip and they are leaking. So show me all the feedback that shows the shocks PERFORMANCE. I see very little. And yes I have searched quite a few times. Re read the thread yourself and look and the time line I have asked about these shocks..this isn't the 1st time. I have run Walker Evans, Bilstien, and Re's on my rig. I am very interested in these shocks but not willing to buy something with as little feedback as I have found. That's why I asked for an update...they have been out for a while...maybe someone has actually run them and can give me an intelligent answer. Now, If ya got feedback..fine. If not..take your comment and go fuck yourself.

I have them on my K5 Blazer on 1tons, and they work great.
The shocks have not had a leaking problem for quite some time, we got that resolved with the last redesign.
If you have any more qustions about the shocks feel free to give us a call.

What kind of uptravel are you running these at? I run on the East Coast...rough trails and big rocks...terrain is not slickrock. It's nasty stick out of the ground tear your rig up stuff. What's the ride like at speed down trails and also how are they in the rocks..?

Are they valved so that they handle both ?

They are valved primarily for rocks.
I am running mine with about 5 inches up uptravel.
Even at that they are very controlled, I do drive this thing in the dunes from time to time, and for a big beast with balloony tires it handles really well at speed.

What do you guys suggest for optimal uptravel length ? My TJ has limited space for shocks...if needed I could put some hoops up front to lengthen my shock mounts and in the back bring the shocks thru the tub in the rear and make a mount to the cage...? Currently I am only running about 4" uptravel in the front...with a D60 in the TJ it comes down to clearance for the 60, steering components etc...With my bumpstop set up in the front, keeps the pumpkin out of my steering.

My rig is set up for minimal up travel and a lot of droop, seems to be the preferred set up here in the east for hard core rock crawling. I also compete in armature rc events with the rig, and that set up works very well .

The travel is really up to you.
The extended and collapsed lengths are on the web site. Don't buy more shock than you are going to use.

So if I limit the up travel to say 4" or so, I wont affect the function of the shock? For my suspension, and extended length of 31" or so in the front is right on the money...

13" shock would give me the droop I need. I could probably run either...13" shock woiuld allow me about 4.5" of up travel...

I just extended the front mounts up top, and now have adequate up travel. I have had the front end come 4' off the ground and when it landed you couldn't even tell it left. Very Cool. I just ordered a set of 11" coil version for the rear and am putting Ford F250 mounts in and out boarding the shocks. Can't wait to run with these on all 4 corners...:smokin:

Here is the side that leaked. Front passenger side. Ive pulled the shocks off. THey are in boxes. I can see that the seal around the shaft on the failed shock is coming out of the shock body while the other three that didnt leak have the seal deeper into the shock body. I have a couple pictures but they are too big to post.

Witness marks? oil on the shock body? or damage to the shaft? THere is no damage to the shaft. ve stuffed them into boxes to ship and wiped all the oil off so I wouldnt be accused of shipping suspicious whatever through the mail. The only thing I can see is the seal is coming out of the shock body. I want a reliable shock not a garage floor oiler.

In the lower picture you can see how the seal has come out of the shock body on the left. The one on the right doesnt leak.

:mad3:

No, the BBCS WAS a leaky Beeeotch. The seal that was used in the initial batches was not up to the task of a 5/8" shaft. After extensive testing, a new seal design was implemented. We've since replaced any shocks that customers have sent back with leaky seals (with the exception of a few that had damaged shafts or bodies).

The valving and dimensions are the same as always, and as any owner can attest, they work great. They definitely work best with oil in them though and the newer seal design is making it happen!

Great product. I had a newer one (mfg mid-'08) that was leaking, but I had a bad leaf spring setup and it was moving too far forward-back, and I bent the shaft (causing it to leak). My fault, not Poly's!

Nevermind, found my own answer on p. 3:

Here is a quick reply...

Basically leaf springs naturally have some damping in the form of friction, so less shock damping is required than a coil spring. Other manufacturers specify this as light or medium damping.

These will work as long as your mounts are beefy enough and you arn't going to be jumping it as it would break the 1/2" mounting bolt. I alwasy recomend a frame mounted bump stop but these will work.

I don't think boots will help to much and just capture more moisture esp where I live.

I read the comment about the Coil spring version of the shock's having more compression valving than rebound and I get that. Am I correct in assuming that the valving is a progressive rate valving that firms up as the compression stroke increases? And I know that these were designed specifically for rockcrawling which is done at slow speeds.... So how are they for DD on the highway ...from an design engineering perspective?
I'm sold...just trying to learn a little more.

so how are the 13in for coils for a DD rig?

They work really well. We have used them on a tons of different vehicles. On some really heavy trucks like rovers and FJ80's i think they are a bit soft but otherwise work very well.

I have them on my TJ for a few years now. I really like them. I run no swaybars and control on and off road is great. Running the 15 coils front and 13 coils in the back.

They did:smokin:

No, the BBCS WAS a leaky Beeeotch. The seal that was used in the initial batches was not up to the task of a 5/8" shaft. After extensive testing, a new seal design was implemented. We've since replaced any shocks that customers have sent back with leaky seals (with the exception of a few that had damaged shafts or bodies).

The valving and dimensions are the same as always, and as any owner can attest, they work great. They definitely work best with oil in them though and the newer seal design is making it happen!

Got my two 11" the other day. They look beefy as all hell, but no stickers. What's up with that?

These are a universal application. No vehicle specific applications.

Well I'm looking into putting these on my DD rig. Rode in a jeep with them at big meat a couple weeks ago and was impressed. Kind of curious if they would hold up under a diesel engine or pulling a trailer.

I will ask again. Are the issues with these shocks leaking resolved?

Yes ALL LEAKING HAS BEEN FIXED. It was the first run years ago. All seals are high quality and we have not had any returns with the new design, besides the few that people send in with bent or nicked shafts.

Been running 15 front and 13 rear for 3 years, no issues.
