I know this is a very common question and I thought I could find it through searching, but found nothing. Maybe I am stupid or something.

Anyway, I want to get a better ride quality and flex out of my 78 CJ7. Correct me if I am wrong but, a rear YJ spring will bolt right up to the rear of the CJ. I am wanting to use some 2" bds springs + a 2" shackle.

What do I need to do to the front in order to use the YJ spring? I was wanting to use a 2" spring with a 2" shackle in the front. Is there a better spring to use than the YJ spring?

i believe you can just use a spring hanger that more makes to allow yah to use a 2.5 inch spring. then yah just hammer the rear hanger of the front spring to be a little wider so the spring fits in

Yes, there are no mods needed to bolt the rears in.

For the fronts, you will need a pair of rear CJ shackle hangers. The spring hangers do not need to be changed because the YJ springs use narrower bushings and equal the same width as the CJ.

After you take off your front shackle hanger, there should be a rivet right next to the bolt holes. Grind this rivet down and punch it out. The new shackle hanger will use this hole and the first originial hole, leaving the other shackle hanger hole empty. This moves the hanger foward to keep the shackle angle correct since the rear shackle hanger is a lot shorter than the original fronts.

Oh yeah, you'll need some 2.5" spring perches and some wider U bolt plates too.

Bolt the springs in and you're good to go!

I forgot to mention to use at least YJ rear springs on all four corners(5 leaf). The front 4 leafs are worthless. I took two sets of YJ springs to make 6 leaf packs on all four corners
