Has anyone ever taken a stock YJ (or similar) pitman arm, tapered it backwards for a one ton tie rod end, and ran the drag link on top of the pitman arm instead of under it? I'm just concerned that the when I turn sharp to the right the drag link will hit the side of the pitman arm. So, has anyone done it, seen it done, thought about it, or have any input whatsoever on it?
i have seen it done successfully with hiem ends several times. i cant see tie rod ends making much of a difference. you should be ok

I don't want to use heims on my steering. How many degrees does the pitman arm swing? Anyone know off hand? I need to put the drag link over the pitman arm to keep the front axle from hitting the drag link.

my 98 Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel has the draglink over the pitman arm, maybe you could just use that pitman arm? It's pretty beefy too.

Does the pitman arm on your Dodge drop down from the steering box? I'm just worried about the drag link hitting the drop part of the pitman arm. I can go with a Ford pitman arm that is just perfectly flat, and I might be able to run the drag link under and still clear the diff.

Yes, the dodge arm has some drop to it, how much I don't know...email me if you want me to measure it for you.
