yep, red top for single app, yellow if you have another non deep cycle battery. some run yellow single app without complaints, but i have no first hand knowledge of that. i got a single red top, works great....brad

I've been running two red tops for more than 4 years. I've flat killed them both on one or more camping trips with the cooler pluged in, they have provided full on winch pulls hundred's of times, pull after pull, week after week. Never a complaint. They start the bronco after sitting in sub zero temps for weeks at a time.. -20~-30 all winter when I was up in Fairbanks, and 20 ~-15 these last few years in Anchorage.. There may be a good reason to run a deep cycle battery, but I have not found it yet.

As Bronco78 said, only I am running a single red top. left the rig outside for 3 weeks without starting it. Got home from being out of the state, it took a couple turns of the key, but pretty much statred right up. My rice burner honda on the other hand has an Exide immitation of Optima and it froze solid.

Use a big red top as primary, use yellow top as reserve. The old style red top is over 800 cca, the less expensive red top is only 650 cca, the yellow top is 650 cca, but it is designed for deep draw applications(like winching with a dead engine)

I run a red top 850 in my Toy. Left the headlights on once for 4 hours and it cranked fine. Of course, the battery was only two months old at that point, but still...

I run a yellow top dual terminal. winch connected to the top post and starting cables hooked to the side terminals. Works as expected, i'll always use them (optima) if you want the same technology at an easier price, Champion sales a spiral core battery that should be just as good, I just like to stay loyal to companies I like.
