Is anyone running a fuel pressure regulator on a F or 2F with a Weber 38. I just installed one on mine, set it at 1/2psi, and am curious as to what to expect. Before install it ran very rich, but seems just about right now. At this setting should I get any better LOL mpg?

I'm running the 2F with the weber 38/38, I have my pressure regulator set at 3, really helped with the running too rich and smoothed out when running real low rpms. play with the pressures and your advance and check your plugs
good luck

When I ran a Weber, I set mine to 1 on most trails, 3 on the street. If it is too low the carb will run dry, spit and sputter. Most likely to occur on the street or highway running hard thru the gears, or cruising at traffice speeds. I run mostly low rpm trails, but if i was on dunes or in mud I would turn it up, relative to the rpms needed.

Thanks for the input. After my test drive withe the engine as warmed up as I can get it in Alaska. I tested @ as said before 1/2 psi and noticed the base of my carb was still frosted. I hope the fluid heat riser fixes that tomorrow. Oddly as it seemed, with the pressure that low it felt like I had more pull than without the regulator at all. I think what I am going to do after I get the heat riser installed, is drive for a week at each setting, until I get it where I want. Also it never occured to me to change the pressure for off-roading thanks for the tip there.
Which pressure regulators are you running and can/should you run them with a stock carb (2F)? How much do they cost? I have thought about this for a while as my motor runs lean on the highway, but rich on the trails while just ideling. I know I should take apart the carb and rebuild it since it has been a few years.

I have used a Cagle fuel pressure regulator for years, they are vacuum operated, they are hard to come by, but I ran across a couple a couple months ago, they keep the pressure at about 1-2 psi at idle and when you open the throttle it kills the vacuum and opens the line up to fuel pump pressure so it is compensating all the time without adjustment, I paid about $50 plus shipping for each, that's what I'll take for them.

Sorry, I meant plus shipping

Webers hate hi pressure, you'll just push fuel past the needle seat, half pound works on the trail and around town, for long hiway trips bump it up to about 3lbs. Purolator makes one, most part stores should stock 'em.

Got mine form NAPA for $24. It is just like the purolator one, with a NAPA sicker covering the purolator one.
