we're up here in Oregone.. sister in laws 1985 carburated Honda accord won't freakin run.
drove fine all way up here last night, today.. we stop at the market, hoped back in and she'll only turn over. it would start and idle really rough at 1500 rpm but not for long. i figured fuel problem but we shot starting fluid in in the carb while turning her over...no differance....
spark plugs and timing belt have less than 1000 miles on em, pulled a sparkplug wire grounded a spark plug and we're getting spark but seems weak, cleaned up rotor and cap looks alright, heres whats weird, hooked up timing light, turn motor over...and we only get one burst of light out of gun and then no more light? tested gun on my yota and gun works fine.

any troubleshooting suggestions guys?????

might be the magnetic pickup in the distributer that senses the firing order. if it failes it won't send the signal to the coil, hence no spark. My .02
Good luck.

Change the little rotor in the dist cap. That little thingy that spins around and distributes the spark. They have a 'fusable link' kinda thing inside em that goes out. I had an 85 that did the same thing. I called the shop and the guy told me to go down and buy one of these first and see if that fixed my problem. It fired right up. Me being the skeptic that I was, put the old one back in cause I couldn't see anything wrong with it. Wouldn't start. Put in the new one, fired right up. I got another one for a spare and put it in the glovebox, just in case... :D:D:D
