Is any one here?
I can't get my alt to put any volts out. There are 3 connections on it.
1) Labled #1 "R"
2) Labled #2 "F"
and 3) Labled "+" that goes to the bat. pos.
What do 1 and 2 go to? I know that it needs a Hot feed from teh ignition to "turn it on" but I tried hooking a hot to 1, and then to 2 but it doesn't put out any voltage. HELP!
Does anyone have teh book marks for a 6volt to 12 volt conversion of a willys?

#1 to ignition #2 is hot.

Connect #2 or F(ield) to the big red + terminal
Connect #1 or R(elay) to a switched ignition source thru an idiot light. Connecting it directly may work but it also may let all of the smoke out of your alternator - or - don't connect anything to #1; the alternator doesn't care.

RockCrusher's got it! And yep,you don't need an idiot light. I do, but then i've told i'm an idiot:D

Ok, this is how I had it, and it isn't working...
Ignition (Run/On terminal) to #2, then I had Bat. copnnected in series with my Amp Guage to my battery.
I disconnect the wire from the amp meter to the battery, then I start the Jeep. I then run it up to red line (for good measure) and I measure the voltage from the bat. terminal on the alt. using the ground on the battery. I get zilch.
What's the diff. in connecting the bat. terminal on the alt. directly to the #2 terminal on the alt, from connecting the hot from the ignition to the #2 on teh alt. There shouldn't be any difference I wouldn't think. But then, I AM the one asking for help.

Yeah, it still wont charge. I'm not even sure what vehicle the new alt came out of (too lazy to ask) but I was told it was a GM 1 wire. Maybe it isn't, and I need to convert it from an SI to a 1 Wire, or maybe I need to wire it correctly. I try to play mechanic, but I'm a lousy actor.
I'm thinking I need a wire from the field to connect to the Bat. terminal on the alt.
What do you think?

here's how to convert a SI to 1 wire

try it (1)running thru a switch like on the pic directly above

I don't have an indicator lamp, what do I need/what can I use to drop the voltage a little, or can I just go straight through?
Get yourself a small 12volt light socket and bulb and wire it into the line. That will provide the necessary resistance and the light goes off once the key goes from start to run.

#1wire. The Big stud hooks directly to the battery ...
#2wire. Only one wire is needed from the ignition run position, hook it to both of the Blade terminal(use a small Jumper)
note: Amp meter connects in series of the #1 wire.
