You can pick up a D44 with flat top knuckles cheeper than you can buy the hysteer for.
A buddy of mine has dropped well over $600 into the crossover steering on his D30 and it is still D30.

Listen to this man. Adding high steer to a D30 is just polishing a turd.

You still would need to do hysteer, but the others are right don't put a $50 saddle on a $10 horse. Tell your buddy to wait and do it right the first time, much cheaper in the long run. Sell the 30 to some sucker and put it towards a 44= $ ahead.
BTW working on hysteer right now, Scout axle w/chevy knuckles (Won't work on YJ, Pass side drop but you get the point). Pretty easy swap so far. Don't be intimidated.
Don't mean to repeat what's been said already just trying to help a brother out. :)

I did a high steer on a 30 last year. Chromoly setup. I forget who I got it from. But I can find out. Turned out nice. For a dana 30. :shaking: I think the whole setup was less than $400.00 I have a pic if you want. I tryed to send an attachment. Didnt see that, as an option.

That's cause you're too cheap to buy a red star. Red star = pic attachments.

Better off leaving the TR down low...the 30 needs all the protection it can get.
Seriously, instead of full high steer, a cheaper option that MIGHT give some additional clearance would be to taper the d30 knuckles from the top down and mount the TR on top of the knuckle and use the 1ton chevy ends that allow (with modification) you to mount the DL to the TR, inverted-T style. Depending on the stock set-up, it will give you a little more clearance and can be built so it will not bend easily. Just an idea...

www.mountainoffroad.com has a high steer for around $700. It is a nice kit and comes complete. Tera flex also has a kit that replaces the knuckle, but by the time you make the drag link and tie rod you are around the same amount of $$$. Also, with the Tera kit you get a knuckle made in China. IMHO the MORE kit is the way to go if you are going to spend the $$$$.
