ok im buyin some hedmen 360 hedders and 2 of the footnotes im not sure about. One of them is "Dog leg Port only" what does that mean? and the other says to add a 1 to the end of the part number if the vehicle is for highway use, what would be different on the hedder if the was ordered? thanks

Not sure about the first part, but I bet the adding the "1" gets you some sort of exhaust sensor port or an air tap for the smog pump or something...

amc changed there exhaust ports sometime in the early 70s, the new ones look like "dog legs" rather than octagons. thats the difference there. Dont know about the highway thing, probably air tubes.
I had some headmans on my CJ w/ a 360, they leaked and pretty much sucked. Got rid of them and put some 304 manifolds on and its much better. Seems to have more power off the line and runs quiet and doesnt leak. If you do put manifolds on there make sure you get 304 manifolds, all the 360 manifolds I've seen off grand wagoneers and cherokees are shaped different and don't flow as well.

Hedman products are crap . They will leak and burn wires .And guess what ? When you call Hedman they will tell you its a performance item ? What the ! does that mean ,That its ok to not function ? Go with the 304 manifolds you will be happier in the long run .And if you have to use headers find an alternate to Hedman . And last but not least the additional 1 will get you air tubes and an o2 sensor port if your model year ordered is new enough

ya sure you want headers? They can be a real pain with leaks and you get (generally) more power down low with manifolds. And many are tapped for brackets you might need...just my nickles worth of opinion:rasta:

I would have to agree, Heddman blows. I had a 360 in my 78 CJ and thought the headers would be a big improvement to my manifolds, but I was wrong. The headers leaked like hell I had problems making the engine run solid because of it. I am not sure if there were any HP or torque gains because I put on the Edelbrock Performer intake and carb at the same time, so I am not sure if the headers helped any, but that Jeep moved! I had a glass body so the Jeep weighed nearly nottin, it was scary as hell to drive, even at 30mph.
Good luck, but I would suggest not Heddman.
