What is cruising rpm in a late model v6? Is 3500 too high? It is the 3.0, and I'll be running 38s w/5.38 in the axles, rpm looks like 3.5-4k at 80mph...

I don't know about the rpms, with my 91 4.0, 32s, and 3.73s I usually do about 75-80 at about 3000 even. I think your biggest concern should be your axles. You've got a 3.0, so more then likely you have a dana 28 and 7.5. When I had my bronco II with a dana 28 I broke 3 front axles and 2 hubs with 31s. I'd hate to see what 38s are going to do.

Ok, I see now. I think you should be ok. Like I said I run at about 3000 rpms with my 4.0. You could go over to rrorc.com's bulletin boards or the boards at the rangerstation.com and ask there. I'm sure somebody over there would know for sure.

my stock '93 3.0 in a stock 2wd 5-speed runs 3k even at 75.

At 80 mph I'm spinning about 4300 rpm
With 5:13's and 36's
Probably about the same as 38's and 5:38's.
I just try not to do 80 for too long...

I run 31's on my 94 ranger and at 75-80, i run about 2500.

If I was going 80 in a Zuk with 38's i'd be worried about more than just RPM's... :p

I have a 95 w/ the 3.0 w/ a 37's and 5.38's. I run 80 at about 3500 rpm in 5th. The 3.0 ain't very strong, but it's very reliable, 212,000+ miles w/ NO problems. The little bit of weight the Zuk has will be good for the 3.0, and you should have no problems. The upper rpms is where the 3.0 starts to make some power. Coda

I can't believe the only person who had the same thought as me is RETARD! If you are doing 80 mph in a Zuk with 38's, you have some serious issues other than wether or not your motor will hold together.:D :usa:

I have a 94 ranger with 33's and 4:10's and the rev's are at 2500 at 75. That's with the 4.0:flipoff2:
