Okay I haven't bought a real lift or new leaf spring in years...seems everything I build is custom and made from sh!t at pick N pull so I need some coaching

Got a little deal going down w/ an f 250 ex cab long bed 460 4x. I want a 4" for it but I can't even start to look on the net because I am so far out of the loop as to who shows prices and what it actually good lately. I'll be buying the lift from BnT but I just want to look at nice pics and hear what everyone has to say about some of the lifts. This is going to be a tow rig for my light jeep so not concerned about load...I may put bags on it anyways. Blocks are fine cause I am building traction bars. I need front springs, ttb correction stuff...steering correction...whatever else is involved in the 4" on a ford...maybe brakes. Less thinking for me the better :D I went to 4wpw site but it's a gay site w/ on a few listings for this truck.

Thanks :D Ps....just going on 35's. It fits them now fine but I want to impress the girls with the girth of the truck so guys can get jealous and say I am compensating for something...which will then give me a reason to use the smashing bumper I will build for it :D hehe

Jimmy, is it still working ok? I was going to work on the jeep yesterday, but I couldn't force myself to pick up a wrench.

Do it yer self,
Re-arch the fronts, blocks in the back
then add some 3/8s plate to the Drop down brackets to extend them yer self (most drop down are just that)

Phil, my suggestion is to leave it alone. Those trucks are already hard enough on front suspension parts and tires without lift kits. I say keep you money, or spend it on a staight axle conversion.

Ditch the TTB, either a newer 60 or you can use a 79 style 44. If you use the 44 or 79 60 you have to move the spring pads. use an 79- F-150 steering, or 86+ 350 steering. Get your self some Superduty 2wd front leafs. The rear you can either get a 6" block, or stack with a 4".

My brother has a 85 with the 6 inch Skyjacker lift found here: http://www.natltire.com/ntw0799/pages/ford7.html

His is the 6 inch. The brackets for the front TTB are the same for the 4 and 6. Just uses different holes.

I think it will look dumb with big pussy 35's. But that's your call.:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Here's a pic of his. It running 38/15/16.5's He towed a 14 foot enclosed trailer with it for 2 months. No problems at all. MMMM 460. We wheeled it 3 times and broke every shaft in the front TTB. His has a Detroit in the front and a HD D50 according to the Dana book. The Vin on the truck lists it as a HD F250. There are no cool holes in the frame like on a regular F-250, I guess that's one way to tell. :D

Yea ttb sux...but this truck is just to look cool and pull things...no wheeling ever! :D

Maybe I will just make the kit soon and leave it for now...if I run into a front axle when the new brakes on it now wear out then I may solid swap 'er.

Thanks for the info everyone.

Here is my 350 with a 6". It is a little high for loading things into. But it tows great, towed about 20 fullsizes with out trailer brakes. And yes it stoped fine. If your deal with the 250 falls thru I have an 85 250 4x4 ext cab 460 I can sell.
