Hi,

My name is Steve Mason and I live in the UK.

I'm building a general trail-use Rangie, nothing like as extreme as some of the rigs I saw on the photo thread... yet!!

Anyway, all the best - until the question floodgate opens that is.

Regards,
Steve

Get some tech in your 'into thread' or you will be lambasted as a newbie looking for attention. Welcome newb.

What year RRC?

Okay, sorry about the etiquette breach.

The base motor is a 2 door '77 Rangie. I've rebuilt/replaced all the running gear and braking system - 'cept the engine and tranny. I bought it with a 4lt ford diesel (york?) engine, which I've replaced with a stock 3.5 V8 - for now anyway. Boxes are standard 4speed with overdrive fitted.

There's a 2" lift & dislocation cones fitted, but cranked arms ,lowered shock mounts and modified axle mounts are still to be sorted out.

I've a bare shell to rebuild, and when thats done I'll add a body lift, rocksliders and custom bumpers: I don't really see the point in strenghtening the current bodywork if I'm gonna reshell it in the future.

Wheels and tyres are undecided at present, but are likely to be 33's or 235/85x16's.

That's about it for now.

I'm located in Cumbria, just outside the Lake District.

Some would say the name is very fitting :) however, it comes from a famous UK Salmon and Seatrout fishing fly.

Regards,
Steve

That's a nice part of the world you live in - got room for some tents in your back yard??? Maybe we can do a version of Pendy's summer camp over there... Much nicer than camping behind Pendy's shop :flipoff2:

Sounds like a good setup when finished - you should run some simex extreme trekkers to cope with all the mud it will see.

Ah, Cumbria, I have some trucks to look at there in September... Do you have room to store them until they get taken to the port?

Peace,
PT

HIJACK ON
Paul - maybe you should look in Australia for Land Rovers??? Far less rusty and cheaper than the UK prices I have seen - Of course shipping is probably more.

Shipping is more to get me there to look for them, and I don't speak Oz-but, I do make many wizard thereof jokes :flipoff2:

No shit.

You're from England, huh? Could you speak some English?

Don't you know that in England "motor" (pronounced "mo' tuh" in many places), means car, truck, etc., and "engine" means what Americans call a "motor".

But seeing as it is you - I'm sure you already knew it you were just being an smart a$$.

Remember - they invented the language... even if it doesn't seem like it some times.

Yes, it is an attractive area to live: way too popular with tourists, cragrats and treehuggers though. Regards the camping, this is very probable - parents have a small farm - but numbers would need to kept down, to keep the peace.

The Simex would be nice, but @ 190+ sterling each, they are beyond my means at present - the cash could be better spent on other things, if it existed at all that is.

Photo's aren't worth doing at present; it just looks like a scruffy, lifted rangie missing some panels. Even the tyres are just stock: basically, it looks plain stupid.

Storeage is unlikely at present. The people who own our workshop are having marital problems and are probably gonna want our rigs out soon - not more cluttering the place: the afore mentioned parents definately wouldn't go for that idea.

No shit.

You're from England, huh? Could you speak some English?

Trust me!! I'm trying to make it easy for you :grinpimp: . IsuzuRover is spot on with his definition.

All the best,
Steve

Motor/Engine???

Speaking of which, I have wondered what the difference between British and English is?

Whatcha gonna do with that LT-95 overdrive when you take it out of your truck?

I know they're rarer than hen's teeth here in the States...you could name your price...within reason...and probably get it.

Don't let Pendy sucker you into some 'sweet deal' for it. He has too many parts already.

Welcome New-B.

Wasn’t planning on parting with any of the overdrives I’ve got as spares; however, give me a hint on the average price in the US.

Tired old Rangies are relatively cheap and plentiful in the UK: overdrives were a common factory/retro fit… surely there’s potential somewhere.

As to the difference between English and British… what’s the difference between an American and a Canadian?? Same Island, different countries, different cultures, different values: VERY DIFFERENT histories and loyalties.

England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales make up Britain - only one is English... ask my girlfiend(sic) - she's Scottish!!

Steve
