Bout to start building my engine for the Ducky... was sitting here making lists, debating, the usual... and I got a crazy idea... is it possible to take a 392 cam and put it into a 345? Essentially making it a stroker? I've got a 345 block bored .60 over and I've got access to a 392 crank, so what all'd hafta be done to make this work? Is it even possible? Worth the $$$???? Thanks in advance!

Scoutshonor,

You need to get that thing running, a bunch of us are going to Clayton next month, Mike, the guy you got your axles from will be going, along with about 10 other rigs, mine included. We went yesterday and ran 3 stage, rock creek, and power line and had a blast. We had 6 rigs and made it thru the day with only minor breakage. Looking forward to seeing that beast of yours up close, e-mail me if you are interested in making the run.

Do you mean the crank???Not the cam? As far as I know the stroke is the same on the 345 and 392 so you wouldnt be gaining anything from it.

Woops.. I meant crank. Thanks, thats what I wanted to know.
Hayraker, if I can make up my mind about what I'm gonna motorwise, and if I can get my hydraulic steering all hooked up and my gears put in... count me in. I'm suppost to go with my club on the 20th, and I am suppost to go with a couple people from Cowtown Jeeps on the 16th... so I'm hoping I can get something figured out between now and then. I took it out 2 weekends ago and made it about half way up Rock Creek, and the hoop above my rear diff gave out... one of the welds broke, which sent everything else into chaos.. but the guy that build the hoop warranteed it and everythings on its way to fix it... so its possible... anyways.. lemme know what date you're going on!

The 392 is a bored (1/4") 345, not a stroked 345.

The 345 in my trail rig is running a 392 crank and rods. I had it all balanced to match everything back up.

If you want a few more cubes, you could have the crank offset ground just a bit - go with .020 undersize bearings and gain .040 stroke.

OTOH, if you're serious about it, you could do a little mixing n' matching with some Chevy rods and a lot of crank turning and...
