Is anyone using or know anyone using a Edelbrock Performer RPM 1910 series carburetor? I was just reading an article about them in the new Four Wheeler magazine and they make it sound pretty good. I am running a 383 sbc and it already has the Edelbrock Performer RPM intake on it but has a Holley carburetor on it that gives me a lot of trouble. I have a friend that works at a parts house who claims that he can get me a deal on one of these carbs. The 1910 is not smog legal but that's not a problem for me. I have been doing a lot of work on the jeep lately and money is tight. I would love to go fuel injection but there is no way that I can afford to do that anytime soon. Four Wheeler claims that this carb is "the next best thing to fuel injection". So, I guess my question is: If I can get a good deal on one of these carbs do you guys think that this would be a worthwhile investment.
I was also read the post about the new holley predater. how do you think that these would compare.
Thanks

That Fourwheeler article reads like 1.75 pages of tit sucking.
I'm sure Edelbrock was not pleased that they sucked in the first carb shoot out. They Hung there advertising dollars over Petersons head and said print a retraction and you will get this money.
Plenty of guys here running stock Q jets from Pic n Pull or getting a good one off of E-bay for under 50.00.
Does your Holley have all the off road mods?

That is kind of the feeling that I got from that articale also that is why I wanted to get some real life experiance thoughts on it. On the Holley, I have extended the vent lines, lowered the floats, and put an inline fuel regulater in and still it floods on me. What else should I try? If I coulld get one of the new RPM's for around $250 do you think it would be worth it?

Lowering the floats is not enough. You need to get the spring loaded needle and seat and the whistle baffle for the vent.

I run the 1910 on my big block and love it. It starts and idles at any angle, except upside down. I put it on out of the box and only had to adjust idle mixture and idle speed. What kind of a discount is your buddy going to get you on a $500.00+ carburetor?

I answered Maxx's question with firsthand experience and someone has to point out that I made a $43 error. Why is that???
Most people will have to purchase additional hardware to modify their existing fuel lines and fittings, not to mention shipping and handling charges. This can easily add up to over $500.00 and people holding off on fuel injection because of price, typically can't justify paying more than $200, for a carb. IMO, this carb is worth the price.

Because $43 is 430 pop cans that have to be collected from the roadside and returned to the store for most of these guys...Bwahahaha
