I figure, a pig is a pig. No fj55, but this thing is :fj: ish

Yes, SOA. Stock springs.

Nice. Please don't take this the wrong way. Really this is a question for not the builder of your rig. Shouldn't the front pinion angle match that of the output on the t-case? or shouldn't a cv be used? Nice ride though. Yes it's heavy like pig and big like a pig, but pig it is not. :shaking:

Pardon me. I didn't realize this is not considered a pig. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I am running "CV" joints on both the front and rear driveshafts. Both the front and the rear pinions were set to be pointing at the t-case (within 2 degrees). This is the proper way to run CV equipped driveshafts.

Also, I am the builder of my rig...so ask away :flipoff2: :shaking:

A nice tall rig! Btw, how much clearance you have between the front shock tower and the power steering gear box? Can you post a pic inside that fender?

Thanks.

Cool! Dig the shocks ;)

Next step for me is a rear sway bar and more leaves back in probably a second add a leaf. Still way too much sway... Also shocks I got didn't do shit, if I were a smarter guy I definetely would have stuck with those 8000s. Doh!

...Shouldn't the front pinion angle match that of the output on the t-case? or shouldn't a cv be used?...

Not when CV's are used, check out his pics (the tranny one).. he is running the OEM CV shaft... therefor the shaft needs to be pointed directly at the case...

EDIT: looks like he already explained it... :D

nice 62, looks like a pig, rides like a pig, smells like a pig; must be a pig in my opinion. Sweet work. I can't wait to drive mine in the next couple of weeks. SOA with OME's. It looks like your running 37's? Do they rub at all? I'lll post mine here soon.

Nice work,
Peter

Andre: Thanks for the shocks man. Like you said, they aren't quite stiff enough, but they'll work till I can afford some nice 5125s or 5150s.

Kurt: Thanks for all of your assistance. I think the cut-n-turn worked out really well. That pinion is WAY up out of the dirt! Angle looks good to eh? Did you have any doubt? :D

The 37s rub a little up front (I don't have bumpstops yet :( )
No issues in the rear.

All that's left to do is build an anti-wrap bar, and set up the front bumpstops.

I'll try to get this thing out of the driveway this weekend, and post a few poser flex shots. :flipoff2:

Springs look good. We'll see how they hold up. :D

I sourced ubolts locally at ranch and home.

you used stock springs with a few small leaves removed and then added a LONG add a leaf right?

thanks

looks awesome, I am getting ready to dig into my dads new project, 89 FJ-62. Before any of the funs stuff I have to rebuild the knuckles, replace the wheel bearings and replace the tie-rod ends.

Your is one of my favorite 62's though.

Yup

Cool, how does it ride/flex? Have you got to test it yet?

This is the set up i am thinking of and want to get some feedback from others running it

Thanks

It rides way nice :smokin:

The shocks are, like I said, a little soft. But the springs are damn near perfect. I've had it in the dirt a little bit and it flexes real well. The front more than the rear, but I attribute that to having the extra weight of the ARB bullbar and Warn winch up there.

I'll get some flex shots soon.

Very Cool

Thanks

Did you remove the 2 smallest leafs at the bottom of the pack and use the add a leaf right underneath the main?

My rig is currently SUA with these huge MAF Add A Leaf in there giving it about 3" of lift and it rides like a god damn tank! Would be great if i could just use these springs in SOA setup and run it as is!

SAME HERE! I don't know if its a MAF aal, but same setup (with rearched stock springs) - rides super rough, but lots of lift for a SUA rig. I wanna go SOA :(

fj60 cv/fj62 auto tranny pan clearance

I'd say 1/8"

BAHHAHAHA!!! You think that's close?!?!?!?! Try a 60 CV with a 700R4 - only fits because the tranny pan is dented in and one of the bolts is ground down.

Btw, just messing with you, that's also close :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
