What's real life got to do with anything?
This is wheeling - a world we create for ourselves and try to keep, so the greenies don't take away our little bit of fun.

Scoutnar????
Show yourself!

1980 BCSSII, 1980 Sportstar, 1977 SSII

Not sure what a BCSSII is, especially a 1980 BCSSII. Must mean B C(onversion) SSII.

Oh, wait. How many letters does POR allow for a name?
Scoutnar.... Scoutnarizona. Scouting Arizona.... Hmmm, 1980 SSII Conversion in Arizona. I think I got it.... :)

Yes, it does, but that WAS Todd McCullen's Scout.. and he (last I heard) has a tube J**p now..

OTOH, he has a brother Brett McCullen, who's also been featured in a number of 4x4rags..

That's an ooooollllldddd picture. 2 or 3 years ago I think

Stock springs, SUA, rancho 2 1/2" add a leafs at the corners, 2" over stock shackle lift (1" of net lift) no body lift, 33 x 12.50 tires.

I was a looooowww rider back then. Much happier these days. I need to get up to Walker and get another picture so I have a before and after comparison.

Just don't have many pictures of the rig with the new lift. Maybe the roll in my camera will have some. But, I doubt it. I hand my camera to folks to snap a couple pictures of me, and I end up with clouds, or rocks, but seldom any decent pictures of my rig. <sigh> Only good pictures I ever really get are poser pictures where I stop, get out, take the picture, and then get back in. And, for the really fun stuff, I usually am too busy driving to do that... :D

This was a tough trail.... Got a decent pic though.

Basically stock.

Stock springs. Stock shackles. D44 axle, although it is out of a chevy. It's just your basic spring over axle suspension. Longer shocks, of course, turned the knuckles for caster, shimmed the pinion up to get it out of the rocks, longer brake lines, of course. Nothing fancy.

These were on the 30 degree ramp last year at roundup. That stock suspension really works well.

Yes, no.

I am pretty sure I can get 35's under there without rubbing/trimming (much). I do have a 2" body lift as well that I forgot to mention.

Can't see too well from this picture, but there was room in front and behind the tire. My tire centers up pretty nicely.

I don't think I could get 36's, and it might turn out that I would have to lower my bump stops a tad to fit 35's, but if I can stuff a 35 this well, it would not affect performance much to lower the stops to this point. Question is, how much would 35's help my trail performance? That is the 92,000 dollar question. Is it going to make much difference, going to 35's. A better rolling radius, and an inch more clearance under axle/rocker/frame. How much that would help? I am not sure that just going to a more aggressive tread would not make a much bigger difference for me.

But, I can't see getting new tires and staying with 33's. My next tires will pretty much have to be 35's I think.

OK. I found the pics I wanted. These are Mark A and I with 33's stuffed. Somewhere around here Tom M has some pics of 36's test fit on his rig.

:D No, I'm just the exception to the rule. :flipoff2:

Although I admit to having fancy aluminum wheels on in these pics.. but to be fair, the wheels were blems and the Mickey Thompson Baja HPs are FAR from "sticky mickeys".. but for the price I paid, they ended up making decent street tires for my GF's 800.. Little Devil now runs some ancient 10-15LT "Super Thing" tires up front and farm implement 31x15.50 Goodyear Terras "Not For Highway Service" rubber in the back.
