Why even waste money on a traction device for the 30 when you can pick up a 44 for so cheap?

Seems like a waste of money to me. Especially if you're only going to an LSD.

But in answer to your question the true trac is by far the better (and much more expensive) choice. They don't have clutches to wear out.

Power-loc is better than a Trash-loc, not sure how it performs compared to the Tru-trac

lock rite is the cheapest, "full locker"

mine in the front of my TJ (no hubs, D30) has been in two years and has been flawless

Waht I am trying to find is this
1.) Dependability
2.) Streetability (this is going to be a daily driver as well)
3.) Cost effectiveness

What is the best bang for the buck rather it be a locker or a LSD or whatever else there is out there. I would love to here everyones opinion on this subject

lock rite is the cheapest, "full locker"

I second that emotion. I've been running mine in front for 1 yr with 36" SX's and no problems. I just keep breaking joints:)

so the concensus is Power Trax Lock Rite?

I have *heard* so take this with a grain of salt that they will not warrant a lock rite in the fron without unlocking hubs.

I have concidered the Warn Kit....................Is there anything else out there to put lockout hubs on a D30 for an XJ? I thought I heard Mile Marker was working on a kit as well?

they might say no warranty but how do they know... if you break it pull it (30 min) take it to 4wparts and get a new one.

streetability ??? you will never know it is there if you are in 2wd

For the $$ 200$ cheapest you are gonna find

I was out last month with a TJ that had a LS in the front. He said it was the worst decision he has made on his Jeep so far. It doesn't lock up fast enough on the trail. For the price he said he should have gone for an EZ Locker or a LockRight. Just my $.02.

limited slip is like sex with a condom...it just doesn't really work....

Get a locker, get a lock right for 200 bucks put it in and it'll kick ass off road! Won't even notice it in 2wd onroad! Trust me!

I would go with a EZlocker or LockRite. I drove daily w/Ezlocker for 2 years. No problems. Didn't even notice it.

I'm not wildly enthused with my truetrac. It's OK in the snow but it's nearly worthless anytime you lift a front tire. Working the gas pedal and clutch while trying to ride the brake to get the d@mn thing to "lock" makes you feel like some sort of Russian folk dancer. If I survive the current economic nightmare and still have my Jeep I'll go with a real axle with an OX or ARB. I guess I don't really see much value in a front LS of any sort.

well if its a late model, why swap to a 44, they both have 297X u-joints. Personally I belive in the 60 60 60 60 crowd, but theres nothing really wrong with a 30 if your not going to run 38.5's...

I have EZLockers all the way around on my stock axles but I have beefed them up majorly. I am running 35's and have been for awhile. So far not a problem, but I stay off the gas when wheeling, cuz that is how they break..........peace

Does it have a solid pass side axle or is it vacuum disconect? That makes a big difference on wheather you can put a locker on it or not. If it is vaccum disco., you will experience wierd steering at highway speeds along with vibration if you install a locker in it. The front driveshaft of the vaccum disco model usually does not use a cv join. :(

it is the solid none-disco model
