i have a 61 cj5, i put a 4" lift on from 4-Wheel Parts, that a stiff as a 2 X 4.... if i were to remove some leaves only leaving say...2 or 3, would that bee a problem?

I did the same thing years ago and it helped the ride but you will twist drivelines due to axle wrap if you don't have something to keep the axle from twisting up.

what kind of springs? how old?
wheel em a few times they'll soften up
I took leaves out, it flexed awsome but I bent my springs all to hell.

Just pull a couple of the shorter leafs and build an anti-wrap bar.
