89 Mass Air, Mustang 5.0

The car I ripped it from did not have a VSS, and I never got a code from it.
BUT talking to some folks (drunken campfire talk) Thinking adding a VSS will help the motor to lug down.
Right now it only lugs to about 600-500 before it stalls.
Think it will help?
Its a d 20 t-case, so I belive the mustang VSS will just plop right in

VSS was off the axle as far as I know. Atleast on the Fords I have.

Not necessarily. Trucks had it in the tcase or transmission (2wd) until 92, and they stuck it all over the place on the cars -- some of them had it in the speedo.

But yeah, a manual trans without the VSS will have stalling problems, particularly when closed-throttle. It's usually fine until you hit the clutch, and then it quits.

Mine will only run to 4-500rpm... if you trust the stock tach. At that point, it's struggling to stay alive (idle is about 650, IIRC), but it runs.

Hey Mark, I had the same issue with my Chry 5.2. I popped in a VSS and now it hardly stalls at all. It made a huge difference.

VSS wil go right in, but the cable won't fit the VSS.
you'll need to hack it to fit, or get a different cable.
The cable from a 86 truck with cruise will fit

Cable not an issue, I don't got a speedo.
Ryan, know what color wires I am looking for from that green plug?

dude i wasnt drunk :flipoff2:

....and its black and green on many applications(i have no f-ing idea why either)...some are the green black, pink orange..you pretty much better off checking with a dvom that the positive goes to pin# 3 and the neg goes to pin # 6 on the computer connecter.

oh and it wont eliminate the stalls but with what your doin out there from what i have seen...you should see a difference, bout the same as joels buggy. i was going to wire dr's in while he wasnt looking but it looked to be butched from the system :shaking:
