66CJdean 01-21-2002, 05:46 PM We gave his RC60 a buzz job 2 weeks ago so here are the pic's

The goal wasn't to get it as close as possible but to gain some clearence but most of all get rid of the lip on the bottom. We gained about 5/6" but 3/4" is doable without grinding the ring gear.
That is just cool lookin.
how thick of a plate is welded on the bottom?
66CJdean 01-21-2002, 06:26 PM 1/2" plate
Smooth is the best part of it. The extra clearence is nice though.
Economos 01-21-2002, 06:32 PM Very nice.
mattm 01-21-2002, 07:12 PM Tig, Mig or stick? Thats a nice lookn weld. What did you use to chop with? Did you machine the diff seal surface to get it flat?
Sweet pics.

Flatty 01-21-2002, 09:28 PM DAmn Dean, what kind of Heims are those? I like a Lot. Give me the info on them bad boys. I think I am gonna build a 4 link for the rear as well when I build the cruiser, I just need some good heims to use for it. I think I may stay away from Tractor heims on my daily driver.
Dimitri
CHOKEu 01-21-2002, 09:46 PM Um, Adam,

H8monday 01-21-2002, 11:10 PM You sure do purty work Dean.
That looks awsome. I like the threaded fill piece and the way you modified the cover to bolt right up.
Very clean.
How much could you take off of a 14 bolt?

the 14 bolt to gain alot you need to machine the ring gear
about 1/4'',,to notice some real gains in clearance.
We have a buddy that has a 14 Bolt and the clearance is higher than a 44 in the rear:eek:
talk about shaving

Adam,
KYODER 01-22-2002, 06:22 AM The best thing about that size of rod end is you won't wear them out. I have run that same size rod end for five years now. All mounted on top of the axle. They still have no play in them. 3/4 x 3/4 are strong but seem to develope some play after abit of hard use or mud runs. My jeep sees lots of road duty too.
EasyXJ 01-22-2002, 08:37 AM where are you getting your rod ends from, I'm wanting to run that size on all my links, but at $100 a pop, I'll go broke on the front before I even get to the rear. I get good quality 3/4 from a local race guy for $25 (his cost, gotta love fellow jeepers).
Easy
KYODER 01-22-2002, 08:53 AM I got my ends from Radial Bearing for $35 each. Check with Adam Ant, I think he got his from the same place a couple of weeks ago.
Station 01-23-2002, 08:12 PM I would like to know more about these rod ends.
What is their max static load rating, max misalignment *'s, thread engagement length.
Do you have any pics of your setup Kyoder? Sounds cool.
5 years on the same heims sounds great!! $35. sounds great too!
Thanks,
Sean
