i put a np435 in a 89 bronco 2
used an 86 bellhousing and used the slave for it to. however the clutch wont disengage. its not getting enough throw. any ideas? im thinking the bronco 2 master cylinder wont push enough fulid for the slave. does anyone know if a 86 f150 master cylinder will bolt up to a bronco 2?

I want to say it will bolt up. My broncoII had a fullsize tranny in it(M5OD) and the master cylinder bolted up to the factory mounts. So either it still had the factory master, and the internal slave takes less fluid than an external(doubtful) or it was changed with a bolt in fullsize unit(possible)
Or, yours isn't just bled enough/properly.
I know the external setup on my T-18 had to be reverse bled, it was a PITA

just got done putting one in a 90 ranger. We used the ranger/b2 master cylinder and the clutch line and slave for the fullsize. It took for hell and ever to bleed it enough to get it working correctly, but was well worth it with the effortless pedal. We used chilton's directions for bleeding the clutch after failed attemps on our own. Sorry don't remember exactly wht we were doing wrong but follow the directions to the letter and it will work great.

The procedure is probably the same either way.... IIRC, you pump the pedal like 20 times, then depress it slowly as someone opens and closes the bleeder. Pump 20 more times, bleed, repeat.

that must be for the internal slave..
The external slave on my T-18 has no bleeder..
You need to disconnect it, extend it all the way, fill it with fluid, then hook the hose back up, then compress it to reverse bleed it. Then repeat a dozen times till it is finally working properly. That was per the instruction in the box the salve came with.

Hmmmm...just for more fuel on the discussion fire...
I have a NP435 in my XJ. It has the external slave, and a bleeder. The bleeder is a pin and cap style bleeder. Not your traditional "brake bleeder screw" where the excess air and fluid comes out the screw...but one with a smooth boss that that "closes" off the port.
When bleeding, I just bleed it a brake master cylinder. Pump, pump, pump...bleeeeeeeed. over and over again. The discharge leaves through this liiiiiiitle tiny hole on the bottom of the slave.
This is on an 86....

I had the same problem in my '95 Ranger. I got a Bell/slave from an '84 F150. IT all bolted up fine, but I could never get it bled enough. I got pissed and ended up calling Wilwood. I got their External mounted slave cylinders and their master as well (to solve fluid plumbing issues). You have to make up your own mounting bracketry for the slave and master, but it's worth it. It took me 30 seconds to bleed it out completely (check valve bleeders, gotta love 'em). THe slave came with a speed bleeder so it was nuttin'.
Hopes this helps.
If you need to part numbers let me know and I'll hunt for 'em.

oh sorry the chiltons we used was for the ranger, used a slave and bellhousing for an 86 f150. the directions tell you to pump up rapidly about 10-20 times and repeat this step until the slave starts moving as soon as you start to depress the pedal. I watched the fluid in the resivour whil my friend pumped the pedal, i could see the air bubbling up in the fluid. I took repeating about 50 or 60 times for it to have complete travel of the slave, but was a new cylinder and master. be sure you close the bleed screw before you let the pedal up any.
hope you get it working
