I am trying to come up with a high steer for the drag link on a YJ while doing a SOA. Can you sucessfully weld to the knuckle? I hope to eventually do it right with a flat top knuckle I'm just having a problem finding one cheap. Can I pull this off with some grinding and a 1/2" plate or is this a ridicoulus redneck idea?

The knuckle is cast iron. I've personally seen two examples
of welded on hi-steering arms crack right off. IMO, do it right
the first time, get the proper knuckle, studs, and steel arm.

Yeah I was thinking I wouldn't be out anything unless I wasn't alive to do it right the second time around.
Or the person(s) you hit when it breaks

There are some flat tops on ebay right now. I think they were pretty cheap as well.

flat tops aren't that hard to come by. i was just wandering around ecology one day and found a wagoneer with em, except i bought the whole axle, not just the knuckles.
