I'm thinking about pulling my tow rig tommrow, local USTPA show (or something like that) Anyway, I've got a 96 CTD, NV4500 4x4 extended cab long bed. Mods are pretty simple, 3K governer kit, #5 plate slide up, little larger exhaust (need bigger) HX35  need bigger hairdryer. 3:50's in it. What gear for a fairly sticky clay track and AT's? Last year I did 3rd low range, ran out of RPM and lost bite prety quick, up in tire smoke at 211. :( I know AT's aint exactly gonna hook but, I think if I'd gotten more speed out of it last year it would have gone further. What do ya'll think?

i pulled about 3 months ago out in Half moon bay with DD3's, south bend clutch, and a comp with no wire tap. stock turbo and stock exhuast minus the crappy muffler/cat. low range third gear keeping it right around 2600 rpm got me a full pull. EGT was nearly 1450 by the time i pulled the plug  try PM'ing csutton, he pulls fairly often...and knows what hes talking about. he actually gave me a few tips before i pulled for the first time :smokin:
