i am attempting a hi steer crossover conversion to my soa axles. i have flat top knuckles. instead of paying for engineered steering arms, i want to fabricate my own. does anyone have the hole pattern and tapers for the gm style knuckle that uses the studs, and the split cone washers. also looking for the hole dimensions for the tie rods.

SEARCH! i seriously considered doing the same thing, and found all the info you've requested right here on the PBB. 2 tips for you: 1) don't bother with the Chevy cones, use lug-nuts. the taper is much more common and it works, I personally know a shop that used to do all theirs that way and never had any problems (now they just use PartsMike arms). 2) the reamer for the TREs is expensive, you can save a bit of money by using heims for your steering since they use a straight hole.

You can do something like that, but if you want to use TRE's, studs and
cone washers, and don't have the tools for the tapers already it's probably
cheaper to just buy a set of arms. Add up what you need in material and
tools, then compare to the cost of *bought arms*. Make your decision from there.

I can justify the expense by even modifying a bit instead of using a reamer. We're not talking about tool steel. I want the Chevy Cones and TREs. Just can't find the specs to start...
