: surplus Rover stuff...what do I do with it?

Alright, the time has come.

I have a slew of random LR crap and am trying to decide what to do with it. Short of packing it up, taking it with me and going through the same dilemma in a year or so, what do you guys do?

I have some springs I'll take, but I have this random rear axle housing from DieLucas' Range Rover, a bunch of random 110 stuff (dash bits, pieces of wiring loom, most of it is junk).

Do I just toss it in the garbage truck without any guilty feelings? I've tried to give most of it away, but the giving away time is over and the gettin' rid of time has begun.

Any ideas?

BTW, none of it is for sale. It's either free or in the trash.

DieLucas - you have 24 hours to come and claim your old axle housing if you want it.

Mike, I'll take some of it, all of it...I'd gladly take the axle housing if I had some way of transporting it...though dragging it behind the Fiat is probably a fitting way to get it home :D

about five years back my dad passed away. leaving me with about fifteen rovers. this was a collection that we had been collecting over the years and more or less we were rebuilding them as we went. some were parts and some on the road. the list from series one to grey market rangies. anyway my mom sells the 4acres and leaves me with two weeks to clean up. what i took was 68 dormie, 69 109 wagon, series 107 pickup. the rest went to scrap. what parts were in stock in our shop went for scrap. three 60 yard bins of rover parts gone! it was sad to see it go but that is how it works sometimes! anyway, try to give it away or sell it for what you can get for it.

Well, Slade's got at least that in his sideyard. Whatever we don't move to my place by the end of the week, we're gonna throw onto the HOA president's lawn.

I was hoping more for "HOA President gets canned for nonconforming lawn art: no permit application was on file prior to the alleged construction."

Hey, you can't win 'em all.

It's got the ski-condom in the center arm-rest, too...I could just slip the axle in there and keep the interior from getting dirty :D

speaking of Audis...my bro-in-law has an A4 wagon and the turn signal relay is sticking off. It flashes once then doesn't flash again.

I have located the fuse panel (left side dash end cap), but can't figure out which relay is for the flashers.

Any ideas?

Where is my instrument panel you transient?

Sounds like a ground problem at one of the bulb sockets.

Consider it mine. Send me a Saab ignition-retard ECU (not a retarded ignition ECU) and I'll make sure you get it.

Sitting in a box in my bro-in-laws garage. :flipoff2: You should ask Hren how long it's taken him to get his lug nuts (and he even paid for them). My wife sent them out today (after transporting them from Vegas to SLC, finding them in a box in SLC and then re-transporting them back to Vegas to be mailed to MA).

:D

Your panel is safe, now I just need to go check the bulb sockets. Thanks for the tech.

I have a truck that I might be incouraged to empty the bed out of :D

I drive to The University every day. :D

Course, I will ask for the VERY best fly fishing areas in Utah for a favor of this magnitude ;)

Unfortunately, the University is only half-way there  Plus, they'd probably boot me from the department if somebody dropped off an axle-housing for me :D

Can I offer to ship it directly to your dept?

Well, I started throwing out Rover Trash this morning. Since no one wanted to take me up on my offer for the FREE Fairy LT-95 overdrive, it's now in the garbage truck headed for the landfill.

The case was split, damn near exploded actually, and there was some major carnage inside. No big loss, but I thought that SOMEONE would want to see if there were any parts worth salvaging. Now no one will get that opportunity.

I still have a load of shiat for you DL, when can I bring it by? Aside from the axle housing the whole lot will fit in your Audi.

You should have sent the overdrive to RDS for a future favor.

George and I had talked about the OD a few times, and basically he had no interest in it. I'd be mad if someone sent me their garbage expecting a future favor. Maybe that's why I haven't sent you that dash pod yet.

Thing is tommorrow he will have one come in missing parts and ask you where yours is. Funny how things like that work. I need a couple working overdrives but I balked on yours as well. PTS needs a 4.2 block do you still have yours on a stand?

I am still sure George would have kept a few parts before trashing the rest of the unuseable fragments. Oh well. Good luck with your move.

I know...that's why I held onto it for so long. I gave it a good year of tripping over it before I had had enough.

The 4.2 is still on the stand...I haven't touched it since pulling the valve cover off and starting my 'documentation'.

It's staying in Vegas for at least one more week...I'll have to come down next weekend for one final go-through of the garage. The house is empty, but 1/3 of the garage still has some stuff in it.

I still have a RHD heater box for you DL if you think you can Ebay it. Oh, I also found a complete LT-230 e-brake assy if you want it too. Lemme know and I can arrange for you to get into the house.

As long as she doesn't see you in the closet, it's fine.

My Tu-W-Th completely suck for time (teaching from 11 to 10); between the 3 of us (no, not my wife), we'll work something out.

BTW, the shackle set-up is on hold. I haven't touched the 850 for a while. A guy in So Cal who races 600's overseas makes a double A-arm front suspension kit (check this page out: www.scuderiatopolino.com ); I might go for the entire kit, or at least the bottom A-arms and work from there. Right now I'm just dealing with engine projects, so suspension is on hold 'till later.
