I recently put a TPI350 in my 72FJ40. It took up abit of space. I need to mount my 2 optimas some were besides in my cab. If anyone can give me any ideas would be great.

Check out the trays MAF sells. They mount to the top of the shock towers and fender wells. They are built VERY beefy, and the price reflects that at $85 each

Those are what I'm running with a standard 350, don't know how much different your motor is sizewise:confused:

Butch Lewis, in Napa, Ca makes one that fits two Optimas in the stock location. Don't know if it would work for you, but his contact info is at http://home.pacbell.net/butchblt/. You can see a picture of Butch's tray at http://www.employees.org/~dirttrak/confer-box.html

Thinks.
My problem is is that It seems I only have room to mount batterys between radiator and fenders. I built one tray 7x10 but barely fits on one side.

I made a tray approx 10"x14" about 1.75" deep and recessed it into the floor board and put the batteries there. It was a '76 FJ40 so your '72 might be older and have the early style seat but it's a good spot for them... They are sealed batteries so they can be used in cab.

If you have any pictures of them behind the headlights would good, for Im tired of thinking.

If one accidently shorted what would be the worst out come. Cause my daughters wheel with me often.

Optima also makes batteries that are cut into 3 cells lenghtwise. So basically you would have 4, 6 volt batteries that could be mounted and wired accordingly. The can also be mounted on their side since they are sealed. They did this for mounting in tight quarters where 1 standard size battery won't fit. Just another option.:D

Or you could pull your heater and swap to something from JC Witney's and use that place to put to batteries with a CJ type tray. We that and you get a heater that puts out more heat and balance's the weight better, didn't do that with mine got a Specter double tray and used that...same as Manafre but from Specter, althought I must tell you that the Man-a-fre is better and more adaptable to Optima batteries.....

i got 2 of those boxes they use for boats (waterproof ones) and put sealed DELCO batteries in them and bolted them to the wheel arches one on either side in the back

looks pretty trick, keeps them high and dry aswell!! outta the mud!!

it got passed on the inspection aswell, so it must be legal, in Oz, anyways

If I get rid of my serpinteen belt and go with V belts instead I would have enough room. Right know my A/C pump is in the way even behind headlight. I need a heater, went to long with out one. I can still feel the cold from the last winter trip brrrrrrrrrrrrr. That damn windshield asswell. If an optima shorts do they explode or just smoke the wire and die. I had a regular battery short out and it just died. I think Im just going to mount inside for now I need to go wheelin bad.
