got a roller pilot bearing instead of the stock bronze bushing. Need a new one, figured less friction is better...
Anyway, should I grease that thing before I put it in?
Gut feeling is yes, but I don't want grease getting spun off the bearing and contaminating my new clutch... them Centerforce clutches are expensive.
Maybe just a smidgen...

Just a tad, only enough to fill the voids in the cage, and a slight coat on the shaft. Make sure you use a high temp grease, or Syn stuff like Mobil 1, Amsoil what ever.

What kind of shape is your input shaft in? If it's less than perfect, I wouldn't use a roller bearing. Made that mistake on the wife's Exploder, now I've got to pull it apart again and replace it.
Tranny's like new..... (note to self: put oil in it before running it)
Thanks... just a bit of grease is what I was thinking...

use a bushing. Less friction is not important when you have the clutch pedal pushed in, which is the only time that bearing spins. If you ever submerge it in water the bearing is likely to go out soon after. The bronze bushings never go bad unless the bellhousing is not located properly or the input shaft is really screwed up.

Now that's interesting. The Explorer's first bearing died not long after taking a swim. Never put two and two together before. Thanks Gordon!

Stay out of the water :p
The only i never liked is i had one bushing that got a little to hot and welded itself to the imput shaft :(
