OK, So sue me if you don't like my opinion but here it is. Originally I posted this at RCRC but...

Original Post:
No offense to anyone but seeing those pics of the creek kinda disturbed me. Just recently there was a series of debates about wheeling in waterways and most people decided this was more or less a no-no. Crossing rivers to move up the trail is generally accepted but wheeling IN the creekbed was bad. Afterall isn't this the reason Surprise canyon was closed??? Due to siltation downstream?
I've never been to that location so I really have no idea what it is like but my first reaction to the pics was "Oh shit, more ammo"
Especially after it was established that the "sluice" area is private property and people were wheeling there knowing this. Who organized this event? Wasn't this an organized run sponsored by Cal 4 wheel? Lord a couple years ago if the pirates would have organized an event like this the remaining 4wd community would have bitten there collective heads off.
End Original Post:

Alright, with that being said and we suspect that "greenies" lurk I just don't see these pictures as being beneficial.

Don't get me wrong it looks like a blast but doesn't seem to portray a good image of us. Hell even my dad who is pretty damn conservative and unenvironmentally correct said "hell I hope none of them had any oil leaks."

HMMMM not such a problem When theres a huge fawking Quarry just around the corner.

I doubt the little 4 wheel drives cause as much of a problem as the tons Literally tons of machinery that pull gravel and rock all day

Like I said, I've never been there so I don't know what it's like, I had no clue there was a quarry up there. My main problem is the greenies seeing the picture and shitting bricks. I doubt they knew there is a quarry there either.

Who cares if a greeney shits bricks ? When I hear what they are up to, I shit bricks...so this makes us even.
Have you ever looked at the water around a marina ? Yuk, I wouldn't want to wheel thru that crap.

BTW...Thats a nice crossing

I was just gonna say that the Greenies should go take a look at the San fransicsco bay and try to shut down the whole economy while they try to save the water.

I know the area well. It is a creek bed that was hydraulic mined during the gold rush. The river bottom is gravel, nothing but. There are no fish in the river in the summer. It is only inches deep. The private property is a quarry they sort the gravel. It's the decorative black/white river rock type from little to big.

By the way the silting you see is from mother nature washing dirt down the river. Not from the rig driving in it.

i am no longer of the beleif that crossing a river causes siltation problems when they have proven that gold dredging and huge releases of water from dams to cause siltation are beneficial to the enviroment, though i will not or would not purposely tear up a river.

whitewater.....i am with ya on this one. right or wrong it will end up in their war chest as ammo against us. and when it is shown in some meeting to close the next trail i doubt thay are gonna mention the fact that it is in or near a rock quarry. they will portray it as pristine wilderness habitat that has been ripped apart by drunken idiots and their devil machines.

Here you go from someone who put an event in a seasonal water course. I agree with mike and eric, but then again fawk the greenies because they'll do what ever they want, only through political action will we have the right to enjoy our sport..........

As someone who grew up there (40+yrs) and have hundreds of acres up stream, I agree and disagree. Yes there are no fish in the river, too high of and iron content to support 'em, and the water does get low in the summer (sometimes fully under the surface gravel). As far as a weekend of re-arranging the gravel in 'the crack' I really dont see any more damge done then from the full on summer (read non rain) dredging the County allows. And yes Hansons Co. has been pulling gravel out that river for decades (60+).

I think the weekend parties, bottle throwing, gunfire, burnt vehicles, illegal dumping etc is far worse :(

I am with Camo and Company..a picture says a thousand words and that one screams "enviromental abuse"/"thats cool" depending on your viewpoint. There is no middle ground with that photo. I did not say don't go there and have fun and take photos. I just think the posting of photos should be discrete. Hell show that picture to 100 people at the JEEP dealership and I bet the majority, 50 + 1, would not say ooh ahh that's cool.

As far as caring what the greenies think you better start because your in full scale combat for the right to wheel with them. You just handed them a HUGE missile to hurl right up your rearend in the court of public opinion. Nobody is going to read your rebuttal where you tell them the FACTS that this area has a quarry right around the corner.

I agree that Brutus put togeather a very nice crawler, and what is does is amazing. I just think it should be one of thoose you had to see it to believe it moments

So any pic that can be taken even the slightest bit 'wrong' shouldn't be posted? Better remove all those Moab pictures from your files, and what about the mud-slingin' shots TEX puts up? Bad for the environment.

I say be responsible in your rigs. Don't tear shit up. Don't pour your oil on the ground. Clean up your trash, put out your fires and bury your shit. ACT responsible and the pictures won't matter.

I have a picture of me in that same spot. I'll see if I can find it. :flipoff2:

We could be driving along in our built rigs chanting gay greenie slogans wearing flowers on a paved road and they would manage to take a picture at a certain angle that would mahe us look like we tore through a pristine meadow then proceeded to cover ourselves with the rare flowers we destroyed then sya we were making a mockery of the them with our ggreenie slogan chanting.

Doesn't matter what we do We are not going along with their ultimate agenda which is to lock every one up in cities in keep em all in huge hampster habitrails sealed off to the out side world because heaven forbisd some one might have a case of halitosis that will be bad for the envirnment and contribute the the make believe blown out of proportion hole in the atmosphere.

So paul for our ammo we need to carry pictures of Huge ships emptying ther bilges in the bay to try to divert the attention of the greenies.

HMMM huge ship dumping thousands of gallons of tainted water from other countries into our bay or a few little rigs in a stream that actually is a rock quarry :D
