My bud Marc Barnett rolled his rig a couple Fridays ago up above Berkley/ Oakland hills, while driving home after golf. I dont remember the name of the road, but its super twisty with some steep hills. It flipped over as he was turning right around an uphill hairpin turn; flipping it over on the drivers side, back around, then back over onto the drivers side. He wasnt going very fast- maybe 35- but fast enough to pitch the rig.
He's pretty lucky to have walked away nearly unscathed. He only suffered some minor road burn on his left arm. Hes lucky he didnt get knocked in the head, etc. Luckily, he had installed some new 3point seatbelts just a few weeks before for Rubithon. Before that, he only had the stock lap belts. The cruiser was sporting the soft half doors and a bikini top at the time, flailing limbs were deffinitely in harms way.

yeah. Its a shame cause it was a nice rig, nut it may become a rock mutt. I have a hood and windshield frame I am going to 'lend' him. But they're not for the older body style. Alteast it will help get him on the road. The tub is bent in a way that I dont ever think we can fix completely- keeping his doors from shutting right. We'll see what a highlift can do for it. :D
Its his only 4-wheeled transpo, so we're gonna be doing what we can to get it mobile again.

What's that rusty POS in the background? :p :p . That's a shame, looks like it was a real nice rig.

Is this the same one that had the "Ice chest incident" on the slabs?

Glad to hear their weren't any serious injuries.

I have a couple large hammers you can borrow :D

Well on the bright side, he is ok. On another note, that is not too bad. Very salvagable. Put a new hood on there, call Fault Line Fabrications and have them make up some tube fenders, put a new windshield frame on there, and calll it good to go. You can even beat out the tub if you so incline.

Bailed after the raffle with the rest of my group. Aired up at 1:30, got home at 4:00am, couldn't remember half the trip down 50. Saftey first

He's lucky it was 40 and not some modern piece of crap... a modern vehicle would be a total loss and who knows if he would have gotten away with only road rash.

But it still sucks. :(

That sucks. Glad he's ok. My first fj40 rolled end over end halfway down a local ski hill with nobody in it. Thank you ex-girlfriend! If I could fix that one, this ones certainly repairable. But I too vote for pounding out the dents and wheeling it.
