I just got this email, it was sent to my club, Rock Garden 4 Wheelers, unreal.

ULTIMATE MACHINE COMBAT!

Do you have what it takes to be the best in the world? The makers of “Junkyard Wars” want you to build the ultimate off-road vehicle. We will give you one month and approx $3,000 US to create your dream machine in your spare time. You can have as much or as little help as you like, but only three team members will be flown to our secret racecourse to compete against teams from around the globe. Your machine must dodge obstacles, survive collisions, and withstand all the elements — and beat the other teams across the finish line.

What you need:

Three team members.
You will be driving your own machine, so at least one of your members should have racing experience (demolition derbies/banger racing, drag racing, etc.) or be capable of driving your vehicle to victory.
You will also have to design your machine from the ground up, so we recommend you include someone with a background in engineering—although not necessarily an engineering degree.
Your machine may need to be repaired during the competition; make sure your team can weld and repair engines.

A workshop or space where you can build your creation.
A working internet connection and an e-mail address where you can easily be reached.

If you have any questions or queries please contact Jackie Morris on:

Telephone: 818 817 5215

Good luck!

Yep, I have that email too... Too bad they don't need any US participants anymore. Only foreign countries. :(

<i>
I ran across your website while searching for 4x4 clubs outside the
United States. I work for the Discovery Channel in Los Angeles (we make
"Junkyard Wars," among other shows). We've got a new program now that's
an international competition to build and race the best off-road
vehicle. I've been searching hard for non-US teams, and while I realize
your club is American I thought you might have some foreign contacts.

The basic gist of the program is this: We give each team $1000 US and
allow them a month to build their vehicle. Then we fly them to England
to compete on an enormous obstacle course--think demolition derby meets
video game.

I've attached some information about the show you can forward to
whomever you like. You can reach me at this e-mail
(jen.dante@rdfmedia.com) or by phone at +1 818 817 5503. I'd really
appreciate any contacts you could give me.

Sincerely,

Jen Dante
