Before some one says it, YES I DID A SEARCH.... nothing I was looking for.

I am looking for lift laws and smog laws for various states aside from wonderful California... I know them too well:rolleyes: Specifically, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.

Things that are of concern to me are:
- max frame height
- max bumper height
- max headlight height
- "allowable" engines for use in a swap
- max tire size
- tire beyond the fender/mud flaps

In CA, my engine(88 5.0L Chevy TBI) is considered legal for a swap in a Land Cruiser but I've heard it wouldn't be legal in Alaska for example so now I'm a bit concerned about other states.

Any links or information would be appreciated before I go through the old collection of Petersens:D

I can answer AZ for you. Lifted trucks are required to have mud flaps. Jeeps, Sami's, Cruisers etc arent considered trucks. Smog is only relevant in Pima and Maricopa counties. Mines registered in Yava Pai.. no smog there. And Im told, though never seen it enforced, a limit height of 52" on headlights.

MIKE ... do you happen to know which county Tucson/Saddle Brooke fall into? I have a '76 FSJ Cherokee and am getting ready to put all of the pieces together and then deal with the smog nazis:barf: Currently its California titled, so what all can I expect in bringing it into AZ? Itried calling the number for a state smog place in Phoenix and can't get any really straight answers. Thanks Mike! Keith

Sure do, Tucson is in Pima. One of the only two counties that test :( Bringing it in from CA shouldnt be too difficult. They'll do a physical inspection.. which last time I went through it consisted of walking all around the vehicle.. then checking to see if the VIN matched the paperwork  You'll have to pass smog.. and Im not sure for your 76... but my 71 was gas cap check, VIN check and then idle/load tests. Since it was old enough I only had to take the load test if idle failed. Then I got sick of it and moved it out of Pima ;)
