Billing(s) is the largest 'Auto-jumble' (British for car swap-meet) that's LR related in the entire UK. It's HUGE. I suppose that Jeff has heard someone went and he wants to see some pics.

Usually those blokes from Ireland go over and get some goodies.

Short Update.

We had both engines running yesterday. Ivor's cooling system is done, mine almost so just did a quick testfire on the engine.

Roof and rear tub finished as of last night. They will be on a trailer on Wed night on their way to Billings show, to arrive Thursday afternoon. More pictures after the weekend. Anyone from the board here wants to stop by for a brew, more than welcome.

Merv.

This guy for one....

They claim that there were over 10,000 Land Rover at the show. If you count the car park I believe every bit of it. For us Americans it was just as much fun to walk through the parking lot and droll over the thousands of Defenders. AS for the show, most of the big guys had vender stands with tons of cool stuff, Safety Devices, Scorpion Racing, Craddocks, Southdown... Only problem was the exchange rates sucks! so bad right now you had to work to find good deals. Then there were all the clubs, small shops and mom and pop peddling just about everything you needed to build your project on site.

Pictures never do it justice, this place was huge! In two days I could not cover it all.

Here are some to give you an idea.

Anything with more than 4 doors just reminds me of a pimped out H2 that rumbles down the strip.

The 6-door Rovers are cool and all, but really, what's the point?

Sounds like sour grapes, but with all of the liabilities I know I have with my monster, they just get worse the longer and heavier you make the trucks.

Odds are they still have Rover powerplants in them which would make them even worse.

Neat to see how they did it, but leaves me scratching my head.

Cool pics,

Dad went this year and hung out with the Dunsfold crew and i believe he drove the Freelander from the shop to the show. He said it was as good as last year, but like Troutrover said, the exchange rate was so terrible that it was hard to find anything good for a decent price.

Damn - I missed it, I will definitely go next year though. The UK is only a cheap ryanair flight away from me.

Why do I get the feeling though that some of those modified rigs never get to see anything other than bitumen???

2 snokles for TRV V8, didn't quite make since to me either. I bet in was fast 0-60 (at least for a Rover)

Six doors was way too long, and it did have a TDI, 300 I am assuming as it was too old to have a TD5.

There pretty much were more LR's there than you could shake a stick at. I was there from Friday lunchtime until 6 pm on Sunday, and I did'nt get to see all the stuff in those pictures!

that grey 90 was in one of the LR mags. It has an air suspension. It has a pretty bombed out engine. Guy spent a whole ton of money on it. The twin snorkles are for the engine I think he said that it wasn't getting enough air. He even said in the article that he doesn't really take it offroad much the air suspension is for handling on road. It was a pretty cool truck but seemed a little too chromed. Definately more pics how about some more military trucks any lifted new rangies? I am still waiting for that

Not the best pictures but there were several pink panthers. I did not get any close up pictures but there where very cool. I wonder what they have for running gear to keep fom breaking axles and CV's with those 9.00x16's?

Scorpions CV drive lines. They use GKN part#780. They are no where near as beefy as a 1350 and they had nor grease fitting.

Notice the body sliders on the doors and top of the rear box. These were very popular as were the Mach 5 wheels.

Here is a link to Ivor's pictures. Some are the same, some others.

http://www.ifwdc.com/events/2004/billing_2004/billing_2004.html

and:

Someone came up to our club stand and asked if I was there. Seemingly, they were told "no, but will be back later. Who will we say called by?"

The response was:

"I'm from the POR board but never mind. I'm just a lurker" and I never heard from them again. Thought that was funny! to whoever you are :flipoff2:

It would be nice to see a showing like that of Rover's in the Northeast area of the US. Most of the tricked out RR and D90,110's that go are all bolt on modified trucks from the overpriced mail order shops.

Lets take roll, how many people on POR were there?

True. It would be nice. Their is a Series show similar to this in PA if I'm not mistaken. However I think it is more likely to see this showing at MAR. It's very similar in many respects.

But any show here would never be as good as Billing.

Do you mean the 'Southdown' Range Rover Bobtail? Belongs to a guy called Nick Walker, who sometimes posts on LRE under the name of Tangoman. He did explain why its painted in the Southdown colours but I had been drinking at the time and can't remember now. Something to do with him knowing the guy behind Southdown, and getting a free paintjob perhaps?

Hope he doesn't mind me posting a few piccies of it

Here's a few I got on a trip to Wales

Rest of the photos from that trip are here (http://img39.photobucket.com/albums/v119/darthdicky/Seven%20Sisters/?sort=descending&start=all) if anyone's interested. Mine is the green 90 with PTO winch

Another one taken at an event in Sussex - its beautifully finished but is still quite prone to attacks from trees

More photos here (http://photobucket.com/albums/v119/darthdicky/SlindonChallenge/). None of mine in there because I was winch-monkeying for Pete with the Eagle Jeep (actually a Range Rover chassis) running on 101 axles and 38.5" Boggers and Andy with the Red Ibex
