trooper4life 07-22-2004, 10:27 AM Is it me or is this place just dead. Come on guys there has to be something going on.
Eric, How is your rs coming?
Matt, Have you made that cage yet?
Rob, Why do you think you broke that drive shaft? How are you going to fix it?
Anyone else up here want to cheack in and let us now how your projets are going feel free.
I know there was alot of talk around here awhile back about aolt of people sasing where are they at now?
Later,

RodeoRob 07-22-2004, 11:37 AM I broke it because i was lazy and never got the shaft lengthened when i swapped in my D60. There was very little spline engagement (less that i thought). I was working a steep line on Rocky Mt and really diggin in hard. The front was unweighted and the shaft just pulled apart. candy cane'd the splines pretty good. So the shaft is at the shop right now getting lengthened and a new yoke put on it.
also, my 4" lift Chevy springs came with aluminum shims as part of the leaf pack. ended up breaking one of those in half and bending the center pin. I'll be replacing that with some steel shims i have from ddmachine here on PBB.... should do the trick.

RufusTheRam 07-22-2004, 05:23 PM sup daniel... i'm still lurking around :flipoff2: our SAS'd 87 got parted out, nothing but the frame, body, and trans left... know anyone that wants it?;) the 2.3 (formerly yours) from it now resides in my 89 w/ the 2.6 injection. trying to track down an oil burning issue, and looking for an impulse turbo. it's my light duty wheeler till the ram is done. Nick's 99 is coming along, he's got the tacoma trans/case in and it's running/driving. he's got toy cases, adaptor, 4.7's, a built d44 for SAS, and 38.5's waiting to go on.
IsuzuCrawler 07-22-2004, 05:38 PM daniel, i wish i could report more progress on the RS, but i can't. it rolls but thats about it. with the truck being in greenville and me living/working in raleigh this summer its kinda killed the progress. i have however been buying some parts so hopefully when ever i get down there i can get the steering finished as well as brakes, driveshafts, and put the timing belt on the motor. hows the progress coming on your truck?
Eric
paulevans76 07-22-2004, 06:59 PM Should get a DD next month, rebuild the 2.3, and start gathering my parts for the SAS. trying to decide between yoter axles (of which i have a pretty good hookup) or fullwidth chevy gear. gonna try one of those one-links in the rear and leaves up front, a second case, etc
:D
TrooperLX 07-22-2004, 08:17 PM hey,
my troop was in the shop for one whole month. had a cracked head and shizz. :mad3: but i got it back now and its back to wheelin. i have about 2 1/2 months to fit in some good wheelin until shipping out to camp penelton for USMC basic training. yeaaah, semper fidelis! :cool2:
the only mods i have left now are mud flaps, got pulled over the other day and the fuzz wrote me a $101 ticket. but if i get flaps on the troop in 15 days than no ticket... :smokin: whats funny is that i have driven with many cops behind me, in front, nearby lanes, and never gotten pulled over. some i've even got the head nod and thumbs up. guess it all depends on the cop.
i still want to gusset the shit out of my frontend, although my welds haven't moved one bit. other than that my 2.6 runs strong again, stock t-case, brand new 5.29's locked up, and hoping to swap out my 33's for 35's soon. i am also lowering it in the front by removing leaves.
how's everyone elses project coming along?
pce,
Colin
Rip DeLips 07-23-2004, 06:07 AM It's an ongoing project just keeping both of mine running. :D

bahaha, the distance is not the problem, eric has been down here plenty of times over the summer. the problem is cold  and big girls :flipoff2:
psychobilly 07-23-2004, 08:25 PM I beat my rodeo into submission in the pa on-offroad rally, claimed the 1st place prize but the poor suzu is a lil worse for the wear and I aint in the mood to fix it. needs front pinion bearings, shocks, carrier bearing on rear drive shaft, radiator and could use lots of tlc, anyone lookin for a SAS rodeo project? cheap?
maxwell417 07-23-2004, 09:13 PM I've been busy getting the :trooper: ready for CoZu 6 :D .
Last weekend I had to change the cv boot that torn on my CO Memorial weedend trip. And change the lower ball joints, repack the front wheel bearings. Saturday I'm not looking forward to sitting around Pep boys for an alignment job they can move so slow. Tires need my free rebalance and rotate add another hour at PB  .
.... sigh so many thing to do. Need to finish parting out my parts Trooper before my neighbors call the city. Pulled the axles out of it. Need to pull the dead 2.6, tranny and t-case out, my RS may eventually need a rebuildable motor with 200k miles on it now.
I'd like to try welding up my rear diff before regearing to 5.38s, to see if I can live with it as a sometimes DD. Or do I save up the big bucks and ARB it.
I saw some cool half doors on 4x4wire. So now I feel like keeping the front doors off it.
I may save the gastank out of it for my aux gastank plans. Steal the sender/fuel pump and neck/filler from it.
And my garage is so full of spare parts, I can't get a truck in there to work on one
RMNC4x4 07-24-2004, 03:22 PM nothing to report on my projekt besides no money. so for now no progress. i need a better paying job. oh yes....new tires coming soon. these are about bald and slide around like crazy. i looked like this one rainy morning  bout scared the poop out of me sliding all the way across a 5 lane road. well about the new ones...nothing too big/amazing. some 32" bfg all terrains

Matt, Have you made that cage yet?
Daniel
NOPE............
been super busy this summer with Independent4x.com and my house renovation.
this has pushed my personal truck projects to a fall/winter
BUT, on the bright side..........the best thing is that i have seen a ton more cages and am getting a much clearer vision of what direction i want it to go....................don't want to do it twice :D
and.........of course my "phase 2" plans keep expanding.......i'll cetianly post when i dig back into the truck.
OverThrottle 07-28-2004, 12:03 PM Mine is going slow as usual. Here is one of the most recent pictures.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=135703&stc=1
Since this picture I have finished the rear driveshaft, and have begun working on exhaust. My next biggest problem is def. going to be the steering. I am at a complete dilemma on how to go about it.
The front axle is a Dana 44 from a 78 ¾ ton Chevy. It does not have a flat top passenger knuckle, and I don’t think I will be able to easily convert it. I started to try and remove the knuckle and gave up because the castle nut pin broke off inside the hole and I couldn’t get it out. Trying to remove it has screwed up the castle nut to the point I don’t think it will ever come off without torching it off. I also don’t have a steering box that will work, nor am I sure I have a good place to mount it anyways. I am thinking off saving my money for a while and trying to set up the cheapest hydraulic setup I can find. I was hoping I could run the steering cylinder tie rod’s directly to the stock mounting arms for the tie rod, since I can’t mount a hysteer arm on the pass side. Does anybody know if this could work?
