Hey all I have a wierd Dodge (I think) divorced np 205 that has major freeplay on the rear output. It Bangs when the tranny shifts. I am not sure what is worn because there is no gear or bearing noise. Just the banging noise and about three times the rotational freeplay that the front output has. Anyone know what causes this behavior? The front out put is noisy but it sounds like bad bearings to me. Anyway I think I might need to get some new parts for my case because I can't find one like it in my local wrecking yards. So if it turns out that I need gears if they are all the same I might swap a set in from a newer case. Anyone know for sure? If they don't swap can anyone recomend a cheap place to get transfer case rebuild parts from? Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you have a bearing on the intermediate shaft that is severely worn or otherwise damaged or possibly a severely worn or damaged gear inside. You can get parts from Six States Distributors.
As far as your case being weird it isnt Dodge used them from at least 1964 up to mid 1974. If you cant get parts for yours I have a couple in the For sale section under "transfercases"

Thanks for the help! I didn't mean that the case was rare or different than any other divorced Dodge 205. What I meant to say was that it is wierd around here because I can't find one anywhere locally. But I can find all sorts of married 205's to use if I need to swap internals around. I still have a question though, can I swap parts from a GM or Dodge 205 into the case I have? Thanks again!
