My buddy just got a 2004 Tahoe 2wd and wants to fit 33's on it. Whats the best lift and how tall to go?

just so its not hacked up go with a Fabtech kit for a mall cruiser.... a 7 inch should do the trick for 33's... they are nice parts that I have had great luck with fitting correctly.. there time line sucks if its not in stock..

BLs are gay.... at least with a long travel kit he can get it over speed bumps.. so go with a 5 inch kit.. its a 2wd ... whatever floats yer boat... slap a locker in that sucker with some good skins and go jump it......

yeah, its no Rubicon bound rig, its a pavement pounder that he wants to look 'cool,' but I still think he wants to stay away from a body lift... :p

i think mike is getting at a long-travel a-arm setup, so said dude could take it to the desert and jump it. :flipoff2:

If you stick with skinny 33's - like a 255/85R16 - maybe a torsion bar adjustment is all you need. ;)

My DD is a '94 Sierra 2wd... I'm running a 6" RCD kit with 33" Pro Comp mud terrains. Tell your buddy to look at the RCD 6" kit, he can fit 33's by trimming the front valance, regear to 4.10's or 4.56's (recom. 4.56's), and run the fawk outta it.... End of story. That kit is great. I've put nearly 50,000 miles on mine without any problems.

DO NOT go with the Fabtech kit....it's shitty in design, and since it used 'other then stock' control arms, the ride is harsher then stock, and puts added stress on the top of the frame (leads to cracks). The control arms in the kit are put in the stock location but at more of an angle....this messes up the the suspension geometry that 'works' with the truck. Go with a kit that uses a drop bracket to drop the factory lower control arms and uses a longer coil/shock. Keeps the factory specs, and maintains the stock ride and feel of the truck. Research the fawk outta the different types of suspensions, but I recommend the RCD (http://www.racecardynamics.com/) kit.... Tell your buddy to check it out, and research/ask people!
