i did the same exact thing, i need to get that damn tailgate fixed!!! i just thought the rope was there to tie somethin down, i tryed pullin the tailgate to see if it would open, it didnt, so thought it was good, just kept it untied, ill be dammned if the tailgate slammed down and plop when out are mower.
