G'day from Australia folks.

I was wondering how many of you are using a YJ(or similar 46" long spring) in conjunction with a spring over setup.

Initially I'm going to go:
Australian version of the YJ 46" long spring
SPOA
Custom made Missing Links.

The big questions I have are:
1> how much did you move your axles (forward or backward)
2> was the spoa perches welded directly on top of the axle or did you adjust the pinion angles when doing it?
3> have you any pics I could see?
4> any help would be greatly appreciated.

not many Aussies talk about this sort of stuff.
Evenctually (few months hopefully) I'll have the Canyon State Components Shackle Reverse kit.

How about CJ's (up front) on M/L's... 44.5"

I've got the CSC kit with the RRO spoa wrap-around pads. It handles fine and flexes great.

Keep in mind that you should run at least 5 leafs front and rear. There are quite a few people here who have toasted a 4 leaf pack in the rear an even a 5 leaf pack is too soft. I have a 6 leaf pack made using a 5 leaf pack and the long leaf from a 4 leaf pack. It helps a lot to keep axle wrap down.

how do wrangle springs handle on the streets. do they give you a really rough ride or is it a bit smoother then the flat sammy springs

YJs kick ass on the street, and offroad...

So,

what you are trying to tell me is use sammy rear springs in the rear and CJ or YJ springs up front with m/l front and rear?

or

CJ or YJ rear springs on all four corners of the zook with m/l front and rear?

I'm all confused now *L* I want to be able to flex a little better than what I do now (spua, 3" springs, 2" body, 32" BFG MT's)

but check this out...This is an LJ50 with spoa front and a custom a-frame coil rear. everything was fabricated at home. not bad for an LJ:

Hey I am doing a full yj conversion for my 85 sammie front and back I would just do that but if you don't have a welder it would make things hard.
I am making my own mounts and doing all the work myself, The way I put it is why do it a second time just do it right from the beginning + I am also doing a shackel reverse in the front so it will help alot.
Hope it helps

The 2 common options are:

YJ's front and rear. On the YJ's, 6cyl had 5 leaf front, 4 leaf rear. 4cyl had 4 leaf front and rear.

Front CJ's on the rear and rear zuk springs on the front with missing links and the axle pads redrilled 1 inch front and rear.

Here's the flex of mine with 5 leaf front and 6 leaf rear YJ's using the Canyon State kit (spring over).

Here's my brother's with front CJ's in the rear and zuk rear up front and missing links (spring under).

Also, here's some dimensions for you.

zuk front: 37 inches long, 2 inches wide
zuk rear: 39 inches long, 2 inches wide

CJ front: 42 inches long, 2 inches wide
CJ rear: ?? inches long, 2.5 inches wide

YJ front: 46 inches long, 2.5 inches wide
YJ rear: 46 inches long, 2.5 inches wide.

ok...

it's YJ (or over here Hilux) springs with the CSC kit I think.

I'm in love with that flex. It would be ideal for the kind of stuff I want to get into.

Hey Skippy,

Here's an in depth review of the CSC YJ kit, that has all the info you could want.

CSC REVIEW (http://www.off-road.com/suzuki/reviews/cssuspension.htm)

I had thought that CSC was no longer in business, but who knows? Good YJ spring info either way...

With Hilux, I'm guessing your talking about the toyota pickup springs? Unless your using front springs, the toyota rear springs(at least here in the USA) have an off centered locating pin, while the Jeep YJ spring have a centered locating pin.

here is a link that gives some Spring Length Info (http://www.4x4spot.com/misc__spring_information.htm)

A modified version of the CSC YJ reversal kit is sold by DaveAZ (http://www.asianautopartsofaz.com/suspensionparts.html) though hes been hard to get a hold of from some posts I've seen recently

CSC is out of business.

I have the YJ SR kit from here:
http://www.asianautopartsofaz.com/suspensionparts.html

A pic of what it can do:

http://www.explorerforum.com/az2003_friday/images/DSCF3553.jpg

It's 5leaf in the front, combo 4leaf/5leaf for 6 leafs in the rear.

That's a 24degree ramp, and it scores close to 1000 in both directions (little bit better in the rear)

All the pics of the buildup are here (http://www.explorerforum.com/tdavis/zuk)

Skippy

You could also do what myself and a couple of guys in our club are running old man emu rear leaves all round. Combine these with 2" body lift and 2" extended shackles and we are fitting 34" swampers and getting some good flex out of them. This is SPUA as well. I'll post a link with some pics

im new to the whole sammy thing so excuse the ignorance. do people use yj lifted springs or just standard springs? and if only the standard why not lifted

here's the link for a couple of pics showing the flex from Old Man Emu rear springs all round

Also go here for some pics from a trip that will show some flex from mine (the green one) and the white one

Since it seems to be a show and tell thread..

Here are Stock Toyota truck leafs. Notice that the front springs are not flexing much at all. I'm going to put Toyota rears up front also.

yea, show and tell..

and let me tell you, just becuase it clears on the ramp, doesn't mean squat when you get on the trail.

Mine has great clearance on the ramp. Get it on the trail, twisted up, and it rubs. I got the worse offenders removed, so I don't care anymore..

My YJ's are great. I have 5's in the front and 4's in the rear. It rides better on the street. I would reccomend upgrading your steering at the same time. At that height you really need to move the tie rods up above the axles. That is my next mod.

I have stock sami springs, stock wheelbase and 33's, aired down to 10psi, on a 23 degree ramp i pulled 1000. Some yj zooks didnt do as good as i, what gives... I DONT GET IT ! :flipoff2:

Of course it rubs, so what, it works awesome on the trail.

hmm.

several possible reasons. the zuk rear didn't do anything but squat, till I changed it from 5 leaf to custom 6 leaf (take a 4 leaf, add the main spring from a 5 leaf (w/ears cut off), add the smallest leaf).

Then it did more than squat, it started to actually flex the rear.

There could be more reasons, but that was mine...
